MPC-HC has no video while on fullscreen
It seems that lately I'm having some issues with the MPC-HC player. Until now it worked fine, but for about a week I got issues with the video lagging or not working in fullscreen.
I'm using MadVR and Re-clock.
Videos 1080p or 720p are having this issue.

Re: MPC-HC has no video while on fullscreen
Disable fullscreen exclusive mode option in MadVR.
Get rid of Reclock. Switch to x64 MPC-HC. Enable smooth motion in MadVR and/or use custom refresh rate.

Re: MPC-HC has no video while on fullscreen
Lagging video can be due to using too high settings in MadVR. Check rendertime (Ctrl+J) and lower settings.
Re: MPC-HC has no video while on fullscreen
I disabled fullscreen exclusive mode and it's still not working. Smooth motion is enabled anyway. Settings are not too high, i used to watch videos like this until 1 week ago.
I updated my drivers. Still no video when using fullscreen.

Update to version 13.4.9:
http://codecguide.com/klcp_beta.htm
If that doesn't help, then start with default MadVR settings.

Re: MPC-HC has no video while on fullscreen
- Video works windowed
- Video doesn't work fullscreen
- Video doesn't work in windowed fullscreen
Doesn't sound like a render issue on its own because windowed full screen is literally windowed without borders.
Most likely like there's a problem with upscaling, try reducing the upscaling settings in MadVR. When you start the video, it always first opens it in its native resolution and doesn't use any up or downscaling algorithms. The moment you full-screen the video it will upscale the video(unless that's still native resolution like a 1080p video on a 1080p screen) using the settings you provided in MadVR, providing much more stress on the GPU if you used very advanced and complex algorithms like NGU and NNEDI.
Chroma is always upscaled since that is usually half the size(or even less) than the rest of the video.
As a sidenote: The default performance/quality trade-offs settings should be kept like that for the average user, since they are usually very big performance improvements(they don't enable even when checked if it doesn't).

Re: MPC-HC has no video while on fullscreen
It seems that madVR was the issue. I wonder why? It worked OK until some time ago..

Re: MPC-HC has no video while on fullscreen
I reinstalled everything with default settings. It seems that even though madVR is on the default settings but it's active, videos are not working in fullscreen.

Re: MPC-HC has no video while on fullscreen
I'm back at it again.
It seems the issue is related to the K-lite Codec Pack. I uninstalled it and kept just madVR and MPC-HC and it works fine now.
Anything I can do related to this matter?

If you only kept madVR and MPC-HC did you make sure you enabled madVR in MPC-HC settings window under the DirectShow Video dropdown menu? By default MPC-HC will use EVR on Windows Vista+.

Re: MPC-HC has no video while on fullscreen
Which GPU and which driver are you using?
If you are using hardware acceleration, the avoid using DXVA2 native, and use DXVA2 copyback instead.
This is not a common problem, so all I can advice right now is to experiment with these settings:
madvr options > rendering > general settings

Re: MPC-HC has no video while on fullscreen
I saw your post on Doom9.
If you use latest version of the codec pack and reset settings, then it should work.

Re: MPC-HC has no video while on fullscreen
It seems that after installing the latest codec pack, disabling exclusive mode and following this link: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Gaming-Desktops/Y700-application-has-been-blocked-from-accessing-graphics/td-p/3740136
Things managed to solve themselves.
Thanks!
Now I can run madVR in both x86 and x64 version without any issues. So you think I should stick to the x64 and kick ReClock?

Kick reclock and use madVR smooth motion "only if there would be motion judder without it". After that check in the stats in Ctrl + J a frameskip/repeat only once per ~20 minutes(or more). Using 60Hz on Windows 10 was causing a frame repeat every 20 seconds. I changed my monitor resolution to 59Hz and after that it only repeated a frame every 30 minutes. I think this is because most video isn't 24fps but 23.976fps, and 59(.95)Hz is a better multiplicative of 23.976, or it's just madVR that doesn't like 60Hz.

Re: MPC-HC has no video while on fullscreen
That Intel setting is interesting. Did you actually get that same error message? I would normally expect that no anti-aliasing is used, as that is by default controlled by the application itself. Did you force it on before?
The codec pack allows you to install both x86 and x64 MPC-HC, so you can compare them if you want. The x64 has better performance, but that is less important if you use hardware acceleration. Reclock is also a common cause of crashes in MPC-HC, so it is better to not use it.
The latest version of madvr has the ability to create custom refresh rates. It is still experimental. If you have a refresh rate that is equal to, or a multiple of the video frame rate then you don't need reclock. Smooth motion is an alternative solution in case you don't want madvr to switch refreshate at start of playback, or if the ideal refreshrate is unavailable.

Re: MPC-HC has no video while on fullscreen
I'm aready using smooth motion from madVR and custom refresh rate. My monitor is stuck to 60hz as I'm using a laptop.
If I used exclusive mode with the whole pack, I got a black screen while on fullscreen, if I used MPC-HC + madVR (without the rest of the pack) I could view in fullscreen with exclusive mode active.
The whole Intel setting happened after when having installed the whole pack I disabled the exclusive mode. The laptop really struggled. For some reason or another my dedicated card (GT 840M) is having a hard time being recognized by a lot of programs so instead they go for the Intel graphics card (4400 Family).
Regarding the whole anti-aliasing issue, the option was set to "Enhance application settings". Switched it to off and worked fine after.

Re: MPC-HC has no video while on fullscreen
You can right-click on mpc-hc64_nvo.exe to select which GPU it should use. The standard settings preset from NVIDIA driver makes it use the Intel GPU.
Re: MPC-HC has no video while on fullscreen
I tried this with games and couldn't really see the difference. Important is that it's running ok even with the Intel GPU.

You can see what device it's using by pressing Ctrl + J. On EVR it will show the whole device name in red and on MadVR it will be a shorter name like "GTX 970". If it works fine with Intel, use Intel since it will make your laptop's battery last a lot longer.

Re: MPC-HC has no video while on fullscreen
For one reason or another it seems to be working to use the dedicated GPU. I think I just got the drivers wrong the last time.
Thanks guys!

The nvidia application presets can get reset to default when updating the driver.
