4k video stuttering with high end PC
Hi, i installed latest mega codec pack and update (1.341) but my PC run stuttering with every 4k video (i downloaded from youtube). My PC is not weak so i think problem is the codec. Here is my PC spec:
Intel - Core i7-6700 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor
Corsair - Vengeance LPX 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-2400 Memory
Asus - GeForce GTX 1070 8GB STRIX Video Card
Dell Ultra HD 4K Monitor P2415Q 24-Inch Screen LED-Lit Monitor
When setup mega codec i choose "Lot of stuffs" and let everything by default.
Here's some stuttering 4k video i download from youtube and watch them with media classic player 64 bits:

(Acutally most of 4k video run stuttering with MCP x64)

Check the video decoder settings. Select "DXVA2 (copyback)" as hardware accelerator, and enable it for HEVC and VP9. This should give low CPU usage during playback.

Try this:
NVIDIA control panel > Manage 3D Settings > Global Settings > Power Management Mode > Adaptive
The default value of "optimal" is too aggressive and gives bad performance.

Same problem.
Funny thing is that if i open these 4k video with default "Movies & TV" from windows 10, it run smoothly but i still prefer using MCP
P/s: VLC is stuttering too

Re: 4k video stuttering with high end PC
Does MPC show "Playing (H/W)" in its status bar? The H/W means that hardware acceleration is active.
You could also try "DXVA2 native" and "CUVID" hardware acceleration modes.
Also try different video renderer:
MPC-HC options > Playback > Output > "Enhanced Video Renderer" (the non-custom version)

yes there is "Playing (H/W)" in its status bar. I dont know how to change to "DXVA2 native" and "CUVID" hardware acceleration modes. About changing video renderer: same problem

Re: 4k video stuttering with high end PC
You can change the hardware acceleration here:
MPC-HC Menu > Play > Filters > LAV Video Decoder
(changes take effect after restarting playback)
MPC-HC Menu > Play > Filters > LAV Video Decoder
(changes take effect after restarting playback)

Thank you, change to "DXVA2 native" solve my problem

Re: 4k video stuttering with high end PC
Good. But I expected your system to be able to provide smooth playback with DXVA2 copyback as well. Do you have any software running that measures FPS, or a screen recorder, F.Lux, or anything else that may do something screen/video related? That could possibly be a cause for reduced performance.
Does "DXVA2 native" still provide smooth playback if you switch back to EVR Custom video renderer? The Custom renderer is needed is you want subtitles.
Can you also test "DXVA2 copyback", but with the additional change that in the "Output formats" section of LAV Video settings, you disable all items in the 10-bit and 16-bit columns.
