No audio on downloaded video after installing K-Lite Codec Mega Pack?

Hello. I downloaded Free Screen Recorder to record and capture a video sent to me in my email, and then I tried capturing a video from youtube to see if that would work. The video image for both record perfectly, but I get no audio or volume in the recordings. I read that youtube and other video sites have a different codec then what is installed on Windows 10 which is the OS I have. I read to install K-Lite Codec Mega Pack. I did and neither video still has sound or audio recorded.

I went into the codec tweak tool and tried switching the audio out put to stereo to see if that would work. I've played around with the settings in the Free Screen Recorder software. The only way I can record sound with the video is to "record audio from microphone". The quality is bad doing this and other sounds around me of coarse gets picked up as well.

Can someone please help me resolve this? Is there something else I need to tweak or download? I'm open to all possibility's. Thanks.

The recorded file probably doesn't have an audio track. If you right-click on a file and select MediaInfo, then you will get details about the file.

I am not familiar with that specific recording. Other recorders usually have an option to record the sound from Windows.

But screen capture is not a good solution for what you want to do. There are browser extensions for downloading videos from YouTube. That way you get the original file, with better quality. Which browser do you use? If needed, I can give a link for a good extension.

Hello Mike, i don't know whether the problem is in your screen recorder or in K_Lite Codec Pack(if any, that part will be guided by technical team), but for that as an alternatives you can try (Apowersoft Screen Recorder Pro 1.3.2 Multilingual + Reg) this screen recorder software. Hope this will not let you down coz this is a very good recorder according to your problem.

Thanks guys for answering me back. I tried the trial version of Apowersoft Screen Recorder Pro. It does work with audio. Only for the trial 3 minutes. I may purchase it. They're asking $80. I may search for another free recorder that may work as well. I need the screen capture because the class I've been sent is a recorded chatroom format. The browser that I use is google chrome btw. If there are any good free screen capture or downloaders that you all know about, I'm open to suggestions. Thanks.

Just to give you all an update. I went ahead and bought Apowersoft Screen Recorder Pro at a promotional price of $41.96. I find it worth it. There are also many other programs from this company with that I have full access to with this promotion! There are editors, downloaders, recorders, phone programs, and all sorts of good stuff. Thanks for suggesting this RickyRoy. This is a helpful community.

Popular recorders are Bandicam and Fraps. Both are cheaper.
