Having Problem while playing DTS and DD (Dolby Digital) Media
Hi Friends,
I am having some problems with the MPC (Media Player Classic) which I am using with kLite codecs. Here are the details of the problem;
I using my computer to play movies and Media files. Audio out put source is "Creative SB X-Fi" sound card where I am using the "Optical Out" port which is connected to my "Denon 1604" AV Receiver. When I play a song or movie which is DTS or Dolby Digital, my MPC (Media Player Classic) volume control stopped working. It does not allow me to decrease or increase the volume. I am able to do it from my Denon AV Receiver volume nob but within the player, it does not work.
On a regular Audio or Video files, MPC volume controls are working but when switched to DTS or DD, it stopped working.
Windows 7 (64 Bit)
Creative SB X-Fi Sound Card (Using S/PDIF - Optical Out)
Denon 1604 AV Receiver (Auto Setting so it can pick up any media format and change the input mode automatically)
Can anyone please help?

Re: Having Problem while playing DTS and DD (Dolby Digital) Media
This is how passthrough works. The compressed audio is send directly to the receiver. The receiver is then responsible for decoding the audio and further processing (such as volume adjustment). If you want to control volume on the computer, then you need to disable passthrough, so that decoding takes place on the computer. In that case you are limited to outputting stereo, because S/PDIF doesn't have enough bandwidth for more channels of uncompressed audio. For surround audio you need to use HDMI.
