Not sure if K-Lite/MPC-HC issue or Windows 10 Creators Update issue
Hello,
shortly after I upgraded to Creators Update I had to re-check settings, tweaks, drivers etc. - like always on bigger upgrades (darn).*
Then I recognized there is v13.0.4 of the codec pack - but on install it told me because of the Windows update I have to reinstall the full version first.
So I did - I was not sure if it's a good idea to import my last settings backup from a few days ago or check everything manually - I decided to do manually.
Most settings were the same, only some stuff changed, but I went through everything.
Now to the strange issue.
First to say, I use Total Commander for ages as main file operation suite.
So I went to a folder with a movie to watch it.
Soon I recognized that the full screen player is no more in focus, pressing space didn't pause, only clicking into it.
This does not happen when I press pause after a few seconds but after 2 minutes or so.
My ForegroundLockTimeout is defaulted to
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop]
"ForegroundLockTimeout"=dword:00030d40
as usual.
The second strange issue is when I exit the player, the maximized Total Commander window is not in focus, the title bar is grey instead of blue - but I can move the file selection cursor with the arrow keys as usual, I can launch a file using the Enter key as usual - but I can not use the file operation function keys like F5 to copy a file/folder, the UI window does not pop up.
I have to press ALT-TAB, then Total Commander is in focus again.
I really would like to know if the culprit is K-Lite Codec Pack or Windows 10 Creators Update.
Is there a software that can tell me if no-UI processes like services etc. steal the focus of a given software?
Thanks in advance.
*several desktop appearence settings, user folders doubles (like documents, pictures, videos, music), printer driver wrecked (have to uninstall and reinstall), NVidia game profiles gone (I had a backup from nvidia Profile Inspector as a *.nip file from a week ago) etc. pp.

Anything that worked before and is broken in Windows 10 1703, is a bug in Windows. I expect Microsoft to fix things in the coming weeks.

You can say that but it's only with MPC-HC (and TC after I exited MPC-HC) so I hope you don't downplay it.

Maybe something is stealing the focus:

I'll give it a try.
Edit:
So I was not able to reproduce part one of the issue, perhaps I'm too inpatient to watch something now, but part two regarding Total Commander I did.
After exiting MPC-HC I had the TC without blue title bar and pressed ALT-TAB once to get it into focus, after doing that I checked the focus.exe and it clearly told me that explorer.exe is the culprit.
Very interesting.
Because I'm not an MS tester, I'm not used to report bugs to MS so where is the best place to do so, can you tell me?

You can report bugs to Microsoft using the "Feedback hub". You can get that app from the Windows Store if it isn't installed yet on your system.
There was a regular cumulative update for Windows 10 yesterday. If you haven't got that yet, run the settings app and manually check for updates. Maybe they already fixed it.
