FFDShow DXVA and build
Please return FFDShow DXVA in K-Lite codec pack - it is faster on slow machines. And update standalone FFDShow tryouts build. Current available standalone build 4533. Current in K-Lite codec pack 12.8.5 is 4534.

Re: FFDShow DXVA and build
FFDShow DXVA is buggy. The pack includes MPC DXVA Decoder (in Mega). That also works on XP and works better.
Development of FFDShow has been stopped completely.

Re: FFDShow DXVA and build
Sad. FFDShow libavcodec can partial skip deblocking in H264 / AVC, when it is safe, and automatically turn deblocking off completely when not enough performance. LAV Codec can't do that.

Re: FFDShow DXVA and build
Skip deblocking only works with software decoding. Not with DXVA. It also has a negative effect on quality, even when it is "safe". Using ffdshow as a software decoder is still possible with the current pack.
Re: FFDShow DXVA and build
I know that software ffshow available in current K-Lite, but thanks for the other information.

Re: FFDShow DXVA and build
MPC DXVA Decoder also has a skip deblock function (when it does software decoding).
Re: FFDShow DXVA and build
Don't see any settings for build in MPC-HC decoders.
Don't see MPC-HC DXVA decoder in installer and player. But I see in Codec Tweak Tool. After
enabling it, don't see it in MPC-HC. Opened its settings by DSFMgr, but this is unofficial way. How to obtain an official command to open configuration dialog of needed AX filter?
Like:
ffdshow.ax,configure
ffdshow.ax,configureDXVA
ffdshow.ax,configureAudio
ffdshow.ax,configureVFW
etc...
P.S.
I see FFDShow DXVA in Codec Tweak Tool - cool!
MPC-HC is a slow player. Fastest existing players: 1st is BSPlayer, 2nd is Zoom Player (or them equal. I don't remember - I was testing them long time ago, but nothing changed from that time)

Re: FFDShow DXVA and build
You can select it on the hardware acceleration settings page in the installer.
(if you don't get that page, then copy this info here: codec tweak tool > generate log > system information)
It is not one of the built-in decoders. It is a standalone version of an old built-in decoder (from before those were replaced with LAV Filters).
There are two ways to use it:
1) Register it (= enabled with CTT). Then it is available to all players.
2) Add it as an external filter in MPC-HC settings. Then it is used only by MPC-HC. The pack adds it there by default on XP (even if you didn't select it during installation). To enable it you only need to enable the checkbox in the external filter settings of MPC-HC.
MPC-HC is actually a super fast player. But considering that you have an old system, most things will be relatively slow for you.
