I can't find that K Lite pack anymore.
Hello team
My question is simple. I used Media player classic with K Lite that played every thing perfectly.
Since my XP sp2 crashed , i can't find the K LIte file that i used on aug. 2013.
I mostly need it for mp4's and flv's. I don't edit or convert. Could you please help. These packs here
need sp3 that can't be used by me.

Re: I can't find that K Lite pack anymore.
And we can see the videoclips again ! But some of the video's now have a broad
bar in them of one colour. This can be green or purple. And it could be that the
sound in those vids sound is what distorted. I used the K Lite Codec_Pack_995_Full.
What can i do now to cure this symptom that i didn't have in the past ?

Re: I can't find that K Lite pack anymore.
Can you copy this information, so I can see which GPU and driver you have?
Codec Tweak Tool > Generate Log
A possible solution would be this:
LAV Video Decoder > uncheck YV12 and/or NV12
Please test each individually and let me know if it makes any difference. This is basically a workaround for a flaw in the graphics driver.

Re: I can't find that K Lite pack anymore.
Hi
What i remember is the working P.C. had Sherlock codec detective onboard. And i don't recall using
the codec tweak tool. But i made a screenshot of the video codecs when working. I compared
them with the current situation and i don't see much difference but i am no software engineer at all.
Where do i find the settings you described ? In the MP classic ? Under what buttons ?
Maybe i had chosen another K Lite pack version ?

Re: I can't find that K Lite pack anymore.
There is a shortcut in the Start menu for LAV Video.
It also appears as a red icon in your system tray during playback (right-bottom corner of the screen).

Re: I can't find that K Lite pack anymore.
Yes, that cured it. What's left is some sound distortion. Even in loose mp3 files.
How could i tweak these out, please ?

Codec Tweak Tool > Generate Log
This allows us to automatically adjust the settings on systems that use the same hardware and driver.
Did you need to disable both YV12 and NV12 to make it work, or is just one of the two enough?
Does the sound distortion also happen if you reduce volume a bit?

Re: I can't find that K Lite pack anymore.
I only had to uncheck the YV12 and the colorbands were gone. The distortion appears not in
all clips or mp3's ?
If i turn the volume down i can still hear the clipping sound.
And i have made the log file and have copied this here:

Re: I can't find that K Lite pack anymore.
Can you also copy the first part of the log? That contains the information I need, such as the GPU deviceid and driver version.
Codec Tweak Tool has always been included.
Does the audio problem perhaps only happens on files with surround sound (5.1 channels)? Or does it also happen on stereo files?

Re: I can't find that K Lite pack anymore.
Admin i found out in the mean time that if i see two coloured bands i also have to uncheck the nv12. But more interesting is if i play the clip in Win Media player 9.00.00.4510 the distortion is gone ! But the two
traysymbols red and blue are still active i think and they are gone when Win media player 9 is closed.
Here are some more listing from the tweaktool. I only use stereo modus.

Re: I can't find that K Lite pack anymore.
Thanks.
The behavior also depends a bit on which video renderer is used.
MPC options > Playback > Output
You could try VMR-9 (renderless)

Re: I can't find that K Lite pack anymore.
The renderless output is all greyed out. So i can't handle that option.
What i found out in between. When i play a certain webm file in MPC it sounds distorted.
But that same file played in the FireFox browser is o.k. And some webm files are o.k. in MPC.
It has to be some rendering switching or recognition ? This is not my expertise.
Should i just download another K Lite version ? I have always used MPC with the 7 white bars
and the the bluebar. But i never saw those red and blue icons in the traybar. What could i have
used then ?

Re: I can't find that K Lite pack anymore.
You should use the latest version of the codec pack. An old version was only needed for XP SP2, and you are using SP3 now.
If you have a WebM file that doesn't play correctly with the latest version, then please upload that file and I will try to fix the problem.
