problems with vodec

I have downloaded some short films onto dvd. they play perfectly on my pc but when I try and play on tv , they don't play and it tells me I have a problem with a "vodec code". I have no idea how to to sort this. can anyone help?

If you right-click on the file and select MediaInfo, then you get details about the file format. It is probably a format that your TV does not support.

You can convert files with for example Handbrake.
