Cannot change color outline of subtitles on MPC
Hi all,
So I´ve been trying to personalize a font to watch my content in all the same subtitles. The problem is that I try to chance colors on the outline and it always stays with the same "orange" outline, no matter what color i choose. Shadow color also is orange and I just can't seem to change it.
What you can see in this image here is an example: the bottom subtitles are hardcoded and I'm trying to achieve the same effect. The ones on top are what I'm trying to change.
The Font being used is Linux Libertine, but I've tried and I have the same problem with other regular fonts like Arial.
Changing primary color seems to work, so it's only an outline problem. While I'm at it, anyone know of a way to insert half values into these parameters? (like having an outline of 0.5 or 1.1 instead of 1?)
The subtitles are embedded into the files. Using Media Info I get this information about the subs:
Subtitle: Advanced SubStation Alpha [S: ass [default]]
Subtitle: UTF-8 [S: No subtitles]
Already uninstalled K-lite Media Codec Pack and re-installed everything with the latest version.
Using Windows 10
What am I doing wrong?? Any suggestions?

Re: Cannot change color outline of subtitles on MPC
After changing the settings you need to do:
Menu > play > Subtitle track > Reload
This should look similar:
Orange outline, black shadow, border width = 1, and shadow = 3.
Half values are not possible.
Menu > play > Subtitle track > Reload

Re: Cannot change color outline of subtitles on MPC
In terms of border width and shadow that does in fact seem to be correct, so thank you.
However, It seems like the color switch isn't working. as you can see here, I have tried setting the color to something completely different and tried reloading the subtitles and nothing happens. No matter what color I choose, that orange always stays there.
Tried making the border thicker and even selecting the "opaque box" option just to make sure it's not just a trick of the eye due to a thin border, and can confirm that it's always that same orange.

Re: Cannot change color outline of subtitles on MPC
If the subtitle that you are trying to modify already has a style then you need to do this:
Menu > play > Subtitle track > Default Style
That replaces all styled subtitles with the style that you have created.

I did and have had that option selected for a while now... when i select that option the subtitles do change (font, size, etc), but the subtitle borders are still orange... it's almost as it applies all the "default style" settings except the outline and shadow colors. :/

Changing outline and shadow colors works correctly here.
Try resetting the settings with the Codec Tweak Tool.

Re: Cannot change color outline of subtitles on MPC
Hey.
Been extremely busy with work lately, so apologies for disappearing.
So I finally had some time to take another look at this and happened to load a different file... and lo and behold! everything's working fine.
But when I try to load the specific files I wanted to use custom subtitles on, it doesn't work. So it must be an issue with that specific file format, or the way subtitles were encoded.
I shall give you some details on the files I'm having issues with. They are .mkv files with .ass subtitles embedded in them, and when I open Media Info I get these details:
Video: MPEG4 Video (H264) 1280x720 23.976fps [V: h264 high L4.1, yuv420p, 1280x720 [default]]
Audio: AAC 48000Hz stereo [A: Japanese [jpn] (aac lc, 48000 Hz, stereo) [default]]
Subtitle: Advanced SubStation Alpha [S: ass [default]]
Subtitle: UTF-8 [S: No subtitles]
If you want, I can send you one of the files so you can try it on and see what I'm talking about.
I'm just trying to make what I think is the best media player available today even better.
Thank you for all your help so far!

Re: Cannot change color outline of subtitles on MPC
ASS subtitles have their own styles.
You can view the embedded styles here:
Menu > Play > Subtitle Track > Styles
And override them with:
Menu > Play > Subtitle Track > Default Style
