Magic Jack codec
I would like to be able to play Magic Jack wav files that I receive in my email.
Currently I have K-Lite_Codec_Pack_Version 12.4.4 Full.exe installed.
I'm trying to play the wav file with Media Player Classic ver. 6.4.9.1 rev 107
In Windows 7
I read someplace that it uses GSM Wave Codec
I am happy to send or place a like of the wav file.
How can I configure K-Lite to play these wav files?
Thank you,
Docfxit

Re: Magic Jack codec
Why are you using such an old version of Media Player Classic? The latest version is included with the codec pack. That one is better.
Which error does Media Player Classic display when you play that file?
Could you upload an example file for me? Then I can try to find a solution to play it. You can send the link as a private message if needed. To upload you can use a site like sendspace.com or datafilehost.com

Re: Magic Jack codec
Thank you for letting me know there is a later version of Media Player Classic. I always thought when I updated K-Lite that it automatically updated MPC. I have now updated MPC to:
MPC-HC (Nightly)
Build information:
Version: 1.7.10.250 (63417e7)
Compiler: MSVC 2015 Update 3 (SSE)
Build date: Jul 7 2016 01:04:49
LAV Filters:
LAV Splitter: 0.68.1.25
LAV Video: 0.68.1.25
LAV Audio: 0.68.1.25
FFmpeg compiler: MinGW-w64 GCC 5.4.0
Operating system:
Name: Windows NT 6.1 (build 7601, Service Pack 1)
Version: 6.1
Hardware:
CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3770 CPU @ 3.40GHz
GPU: Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000 (driver version: 10.18.10.4358)
Media Player Classic doesn't display any errors when I play the file. It looks like it's playing but I get no sound.
I will send you a link so you can download it. I have no idea what might be played on the wav file. It is a message that someone has sent me.
Thank you for trying to resolve this problem. I have found many people trying to figure out how to play these files.

Re: Magic Jack codec
That is still a slightly older version than the one from the codec pack. You don't need to install MPC separately! Uninstall it and re-install the codec pack. Then MPC will be updated each time you update the pack. It does not update external installations.
Re: Magic Jack codec
I uninstalled MPC ver. 1.7.10.250
I reinstalled K-Lite_Codec_Pack_Version 12.4.4 Full.exe It said there is an update.
I installed the update K-Lite_Codec_Pack ver. 6.8.4klcp_update_684_20110120.exe
I'm getting K-Lite from:
http://www.codecguide.com/download_k-lite_codec_pack_full.htm
I found why it was running an old version. I found mplayerc.exe installed on this computer. I uninstalled it and re-installed K-Lite.
It now shows I am running:
MPC-HC (Nightly)
Build information:
Version: 1.7.10.264 (903092e)
Compiler: MSVC 2015 Update 3 (SSE)
Build date: Oct 18 2016
LAV Filters:

I am still not able to hear anything from the Magic Jack wav files.
Thanks,

Re: Magic Jack codec
I have finally fixed it. I ended up downgrading my audio driver. It started playing wav file just fine.
Thank you for helping me get the correct MPC.

Re: Magic Jack codec
Great!
Which driver did you use before and which one do you have now? Might be useful information for other with similar problems.

Re: Magic Jack codec
The new sound driver for a Lenovo M92 that I am using is:
Realtek 6.0.1.3154
The old driver had a higher number. I don't remember what version it was.
Thanks,
