Re: 3D codecs for MPC HC
3D movies are already supported.
You need to additionally install the Intel Media SDK plugin:
http://codecguide.com/download_other.htm#libmfxsw
And you need to use MadVR as video renderer:
MPC-HC options > Playback > Output

Is the video itself already side-by-side? In that case, you need to connect your computer to a TV that supports such video.

SBS video does not have any special playback requirements. It is played the same as normal 2D video (which it actually is too). Your TV should have an option to turn it into 3D video. Check the manual.
PowerDVD probably turns it into frame-packed 3D video. That is the same format as used when playing real 3D video.

Just to clarify for everyone that reads this.
Side-by-side (and top-to-bottom) videos are 3D videos that are stored as normal 2D. The TV is capable of splitting that into two pieces and recreate 3D video. The benefit of this format is that there are no special requirement for playing the video. Works with normal video decoders and any video renderer.
Real 3D video, which is found on Blu-ray and in .mk3d videos uses a special video format called H.264 MVC and requires a special decoder. In that case you also need to use MadVR as video renderer.
