Getting HEVC to work in metro apps?
I can't get Plex's Windows store app to run HEVC. After trying out every set of codecs that exists on the planet... including every version of yours and the beta... I get Windows Media Player to ALWAYS play HEVC files but "Movies & TV" (which I guess is a metro app) & Plex's Windows store app to never work. So in other words, I think I'm getting the codecs to work, but I guess getting them to work with metro apps is another story. My other two computers in the house have some HEVC hardware capability and the Plex store app works with HEVC on those machines, but my machine that I normally watch TV on needs software HEVC support because it's 8 years old but still plenty fast enough IMO.
I've searched and ran across this and think it might be relevant, but I haven't found much else out.
BTW: I've always uninstalled previous codecs before trying new ones.
I'm using Windows 10 pro i5-2500K
Geforce GTX 560

The "Metro" apps use the Media Foundation codecs from Microsoft. Windows 10 contains a decoder for HEVC but it only works if you have a GPU that is capable of hardware acceleration for this format. In case of NVIDIA that are the GTX 950/960/1070/1080.
Get Plex Media Server and Plex Home Theater. Those are "regular" applications.

Ok.. thanks... I do have PMP & OpenPHT and those work fine, but I like Plex's Windows store app UI much better. Anyway... no biggie because I don't have too many hevc files and I can always transcode... but thanks much anyway.
