avi playback query using Debut video capture software

hi,
recorded sound on a recent 'video webcast' is extremely unclear, and just about audible, if at all. the freeware was from Debut software which looks to be an excellent tool, converts the file into .avi desperately need to recover the sound, i'm not technical, please bare with me.
seeking expert knowledge.

I don't think I am able to help. If the sound is very bad quality you can't just magically improve it.

i cant understand why the sound quality would be so poor. The video quality is perfect, is there no code or conversion work around?

The damage was already done during recording or conversion.
