[SOLVED in v12.1.0;MPC-HC v1.7.10.180 (502dd36)] |K-Lite Codec Pack 12.0.1 to 12.0.5 [up to 12.0.9; MPC-HC v1.7.10.172 (376ab09)] FULL Mess up my subtitles filename setting
PROBLEM: Before version 12.0.1+ I'm using K-lite Codec Pack version 11.96 with standard full install and my setting of filename is working as I want it to.
eg:
Filename.mkv
Filename-AN.sub
Filename-EN.srt
Filename-MS.srt
Filename-[other].ssa
That is I'm putting my filename with -EN, -MS (ISO language -MAY) etc and whenever I'm playing my video it picks up my setting in MPC-HC(using 64-bit same as 11.96)\Options\Playback\[Default Track Preference]\Subtitles: ms, my, mas, en as; my -ms will be pick as a first choice but now its not working as before. Even changing in LAV splitter still didn't work as before. It's always pick the first subtitles eg: fn-EN, fn-MS; fn-EN will be picked or fn-AN, fn-EN; then fn-AN will be the chosen one not as before where I can set up by first choice of sub will be fn-MS and so on.
IS IT SPECIFIC: Only for subtitles.
WINDOWS: 8.1 Pro with all latest update as in 20160325
CODEC PACK: 12.0.1-12.0.5
SOLUTIONS TRIED: Change in internal subtitles filename doesn't work same as in LAV Splitter or vobsub. Even with a fresh install with a default setting.
SPECIFIC FILES/VIDEO (?): No. It just only happens to subtitles (subrip, ssa etc.)
ERROR: No error.
Is it a bug or some files being taken out in the new k-lite codec pack?
Thank you.
eg:
Filename.mkv
Filename-AN.sub

It is bug in MPC-HC. I will investigate. Should be fixed soon.
The settings in LAV Splitter only apply to embedded subtitles. The settings in MPC-HC are for external subtitle files.
Unrelated to this problem, but just a general tip. Use the three letter ISO language codes. Then MPC-HC will also display the language. I personally also use a dot as separator: Filename.ENG.srt

I just updated k-lite codec pack 12.0.5 to 12.0.6 using the update execute ie: klcp_update_1206_20160329 but this bugs is still persist. Do I have to fresh install k-lite codec version of 12.0.6?
Or am I mistaken that next version you meant is in version 13.0.0 or after version 12.0.6?
Thank you for your time.

It is partially fixed in 12.0.6. Selection works again. However, language detection fails if the code is in uppercase letters. That will be fixed in 12.0.7.

Just a heads up. Lowercase & uppercase letters still doesn't do my subtitles language selection as I wanted. Using version 12.0.7 Update (klcp_update_1207_20160402).
Thank you for your time.

using MAY as code for Malay works here as default track preference setting in MPC-HC.

Nope. Doesn't work even after chaging the filename to MAY, may, JPN, jpn etc. The first external subtitle will take the pick as usual. Was hoping for external subtitles not internal. External subtitles with changing at ends of filename with EN, MS, ENG, MAY, etc. Even changing the "default track preference" in mpc-hc it is not working as the old v11.9.6. Even if it works by change it to MAY, may, etc will my video files in the thousands with at least 2 subtitles for each of video files changing it all is just too time consuming and a dizzying mess. I guess I'll revert back to v11.9.6.

You don't need to rename your files. It should work with the names as shown in your first post. Both 2 and 3 letter ISO codes are recognized. The only place where I used MAY was in MPC-HC options.
Which language is AN? That one is currently not recognized.
Can you verify that your copy of MPC-HC has build date April 2nd?

I don't use the ISO naming files as my files are just too many to be renamed again & I'm just too lazy...
But the filename is as my first post here.
AN is just so the filename can be the first order before EN & MS. Just wanted to show you that the first subtitle naming order will be picked instead what I am already sets in my MPC-HC 64bit.Which language is AN? That one is currently not recognized.
Yes. Here it is.Can you verify that your copy of MPC-HC has build date April 2nd?

Using just may, eng is enough in the "Default Track Preference" setting. All other values are redundant.

Yet it still doesn't work as I wanted it to like the old version 11.9.6 that just works.

It was broken in MPC-HC. I created a bug report a few days ago and it should be fixed by now in version 1.7.10.150 and higher. I guess if you update your codecs to 12.0.9 where MPC-HC was updated to version 1.7.10.172 you should not not encounter this problem.

That fix was already included in 12.0.8. That worked for me, but not for him. Hopefully 12.0.9 changes that.

Is there some place where I can find out when is the new full version of codecs (not an update) expected?
From what I can tell they are being released without any schedule.

Firstly thank you for the follow up. I'm already using the old 11.9.6 MEGA. I will try using the newest version (v12.0.9 FULL INSTALLERS) after I finish with my work here and see whether it works or not. I will update later.
Thank you again.
Thank you again.

Don't bother. I just did that and the automatic subtitle selection (SubtitlesLanguageOrder) doesn't work. For now you will be better off with 11.9.6 MEGA.

The MPC-HC developers have found and fixed another bug. It should be fully working again in 12.1.0. Will probably be available on Monday.

Yeah. I just installed version 12.0.9 just now. Still not working. Will wait the big update. Why I don't just come here first before I installed it??
Man, I hate restarting my pc.
Thank you all.
