Incompatibility with WMP when streaming on TV
Hi
I have a Samsung TV and use windows media player to play media on TV.
for support MKV and X265 I install K-lite codecs.
on windows no problem and play every format.
but when i'm using "play to" (place in right click) to play media on TV show me this error i attached image.
before install k-lite "play to" Does not exist in right click for unsupported format with WMP but after installation this option add to right click for MKV and other type that WMP does not support before.
is it and Incompatibility in WMP and not related to k-lite?
how could i do to fix this error?
thank you

Re: Incompatibility with WMP when streaming on TV
When using "play to" the receiving device is responsible for doing the decoding. Your TV probably doesn't support H.265 video, as that is a relatively new format.
Re: Incompatibility with WMP when streaming on TV
There are tools that are able to convert video automatically when streaming to the TV. For example Plex, Serviio, and PS3MediaServer.

thank you for your answer.
my tv support H.265.
i can play H.265 video when play media from USB and no problem.
In addition it's not only about H.265.
some of mkv format could be play but some of them not.
before install k-lite "play to" does not exist in right click for mkv format , this option add to right click after install k-lite for mkv and other format that didn't support by WMP by default.
when i use "play to" windows media player menu open you can see in picture (attached in Previous post).
thank you

Re: Incompatibility with WMP when streaming on TV
The "play to" option is added by the pack for .mkv. It involves nothing more than adding a Registry key that enables the functionality. There is no guarantee that it will work since it is limited by the capabilities of WMP and the target device.
H.265 can be 8-bit or 10-bit. It is possible that this specific video is 10-bit and that your TV only supports 8-bit video. That could also explain why it does work for some other videos. You can check the details of the file with MediaInfo,
There is not really anything that we can do if it doesn't work.

Re: Incompatibility with WMP when streaming on TV
The second file is not a real MKV file. It is actually a MP4 file, and those are natively supported by Windows. So that is why that one is working.
You could try remuxing the first file with MkvToolnix. That can sometimes fix problems with streaming with old files.
