Can't play screen recorded AVI file.

Hello,

I've captured a couple of screen recordings with a program that is no longer installed on my pc (can't remember its name). When I try to play the AVI file with VLC or WMP nothing happens, or in the case of WMP a standard error message shows up. I do believe I was able to play the file when said screen recorder was still installed on my pc. I therefore belief it is somehow encrypted through that program. Are there any solutions to this problem?

I used ZD soft screen recorder, or something along those terms. I remember that the program had a red dot with a red circle around it as an icon. I tried downloading various versions of that program but can't seem to find the correct one.

VLC doesn't give an error message. It starts the VLC player, the play icon is activated but it just doesn't do anything (the timer stays at 0:00 and there is no sound or video.)

You should ask the makers of that tool which format they use for recording.
