How to toggle Shader? Empty How to toggle Shader?

Post by KDow Sun Oct 25, 2015 2:16 am

Hi,

Thank you for this KLite player.
Before I upgraded to 1140 MEGA, I was able to assign a hotkey to toggle the Shader but now cannot find it in Options>Player>Keys.
Kindly advise if this feature is no longer available in this new version?

Thank you and regards.

1) Create hotkey for "Next shader preset" (near bottom of the list)
2) Options > Playback > Shaders
Type "disabled" below "Shader presets" and click on save. This empty preset is used to easily disable shaders.
3) Type "enabled" (or some other name) below "Shader presets". Add the desired shaders. Then click on save.
You can create multiple presets with different shaders.

With the hotkey you can now cycle through your shader presets. And also using Play>Shaders in the menu.

How to toggle Shader? Empty How to toggle Shader while player at Pause

Post by KDow Fri Nov 13, 2015 10:17 am

In old versions before 1140 Mega, when player is Paused or Stopped, the shader can be toggled.
In new version, the hotkey "Next shader preset" works during play, but it doesn't when player is at Pause or Stop.
Is there a setting up that can achieve that "old" function?
Thank you.

Not possible.

You can submit a feature request for it on the MPC-HC bug tracker:

Hi,

I have upgraded K-lite to 1175 and updated it with 1178.
Now the Shader presets are no longer working as before.
Appreciate your advice.

Perhaps the video renderer was changed?

At Output, I see a red cross beside the Shaders.
Recently change of graphics card from nVidia GT520 to nVidia GT610.
Unable to install GT610 driver since, without the monitor blackout and goes to sleep. Now, life is to continue using the VGA Graphics Adapter (VGA Compatible).
Is this the cause of my Shaders issues?

Thank you for your attention.

Yes, standard VGA driver has limited functionality.

Use Display Driver Uninstaller to remove all leftovers of your old card. Then do a fresh install of the NVIDIA driver.

Thanks for pointing out the DDU.
Had followed the DDU instructions, GT610 drivers installation was successful.
On reboot, after "Starting Windows", monitor goes to sleep. Then power button shutdown.
System restored, DDU again, used latest Nvidia drivers...same result.
System restored, DDU again, used old 2012 drivers (PC is 2011)...same result.
Now back at VGA Compatible drivers again.

Thanks, but hope for further advice.

Why did you replace the card? I am asking since the GT610 uses the exact same chip and specifications as GT520. They just changed the name.

Some things to try:
1) Access the BIOS when booting. Then clear CMOS and reset to BIOS defaults.
2) Windows Control Panel > Power settings > never turn off monitor
3) Check if the cable is connected properly. Also try a different port on the card if it has multiple. Or even try a different cable if you have one.

4) Press F8 during Windows boot. Choose VGA mode. Then it should use the NVIDIA driver (if installed), but use a lower than standard screen resolution. Perhaps the issue is because the current resolution setting is unsupported by your monitor.
5) Unplug the power cord of your computer. Then press and hold the power button for at least 10 seconds. A whole minute preferably. This will uncharge all capacitors.
6) Scan your harddrive for errors. This can be a cause for corrupted driver install.

DDU has an option to remove all monitors. I recommend enabling that. Then Windows will re-detect it and use standard resolution.

Thank you for your advice.
I will attempt installation again.

Oh, I changed my GT520 because after vacuum dusting PC, it became problematic; its fan sometimes doesn't run, sometimes mid-way using PC the monitor goes to sleep.

Meantime, here's my PC specs, HP s5-1140d.
Intel i5-2320 @3GHz
Original Video card GT520
Monitor 23" HP2311f (1920x1080)
RAM 4GB
OS Windows 7 Home
Hard drive 500GB
Power supply 270W

How to toggle Shader? Empty Re: How to toggle Shader?

Post by KDow Wed Dec 23, 2015 6:16 am

Hi,
Over the past few days, no success trying out the suggestions.
Tried too, manually uninstall (had tried DDU earlier), then manually deleting all remaining Nvidia folders, then manually deleting all Nvidia folders in registry (Regedit).
GT610 CD installation successful, upon restart, screen shutdown (monitor had set to "Never" turn off).
Last resort, bought 1TB HDD (to upgrade from 500GB anyway), did HP system restore. Update display drivers to GT610, then restart, again monitor shutdown.
PC only works on VGA Controller (VGA Compatible).

Any other suggestions are welcome... thank you.

Did you also try the BIOS reset? I have seen that mentioned as a possible solution several times when searching for this problem. If you google for "black screen after windows start" you can find a lot of discussions about the subject. Booting into VGA mode and then changing resolution was mentioned several times too.

The latest NVIDIA driver 361.43 (released this week) mentions some fixes for monitor sleep and power issues. So that one is worth a try too.

Also, in the BIOS settings disable the embedded GPU of your Intel i5-2320.

Now running on new 1TB HDD.
Yes, had removed CMOS battery out of holder for >2minutes (to be certain), and on restart I saw the "Default BIOS loaded" message. Then set to use Std VGA Graphic Adapter to uninstall Nvidia via Control Panel and manually in the registry too. But as soon as GT610 display drivers are installed ... restart after Starting Windows 7 screen is black.
Thanks for pointing out the new Nvidia drivers. Will do the uninstall/delete and default BIOS routine before install this new drivers. (Oh, have tried the drivers 335 and 359 too, none can resolve the problem)
Will keep you posted, thanks for your attention.

How to toggle Shader? Empty Re: How to toggle Shader?

Merry Christmas, Admin!!

The newly released 361.43 drivers works!
(still with some hiccups, though)
Briefly,
Had uninstalled and manually deleted all Nvidia drivers.
Installed 361.43
Restart PC... again black screen (monitor goes to sleep)
... gave up... Power button down the PC
Restart with F8, prepared to go Safe Mode to revert Display Adapter to "Std VGA Graphic Adapter"
... at Safe Mode options screen, I observed the absence of "Repair Computer" option. The "Start computer normally" was highlighted, I press Enter.
PC restarted and after "Starting Windows" monitor screen goes black again.
Half expected this anyway, I stared blankly at the black screen.
The miracle happens here... with about 10 sec of blank stare, the monitor flashes on again... and continued booting into Windows 7.
I checked the Device Manager, yes, it IS the GT610 driver!

Thank you Admin, for your attention and help Smile
