MPC + MadVR on SECOND monitor pixelated w/fullscreen
Hello, I've been using K-Lite for years and can't pin when exactly this issue started. I want to say with Windows 10 but I cannot be sure. I've performed clean installs of both windows 10 and the latest codec pack, trying to minimize room for errors/corruptions. When playing with MadVR, the codec works perfectly fine in windowed mode, or fullscreen on my primary monitor. However while windowed mode works fine on my second monitor as well, as soon as I go full screen the whole video + MPC UI gets very pixelated. By process of elimination I've pinned this on MadVR, but I have no idea as to fix it. I've toggled just about every setting I can within MadVR, and am left feeling frustrated that my second monitor cannot fulfill its primary purpose. Any ideas? I would appreciate any help!

If the MPC UI is also pixelated it means that Windows is doing scaling. Do your screens have different DPI settings? It should work with the latest version of the pack (11.3..
Re: MPC + MadVR on SECOND monitor pixelated w/fullscreen
I'm curious what in MPC would trip it up since I can use any other renderer besides MadVR with it, without any pixelation. This does not happen with EVR, etc. Only when MadVR is being used. If I were to take a screenshot, it would actually appear just fine in the file, but not on my screen...
Primary: 1920x1080 166 ppi
Secondary : 1360x768 117 ppi
Again I've tried toggling just about every setting I can in MadVR, performed clean installations of both windows and the latest K-Lite packs, yet I cannot escape this weird issue that has been hanging around the last week, and lord knows I don't want to use VLC.

Re: MPC + MadVR on SECOND monitor pixelated w/fullscreen
Can you test if the problem also occurs if you set the same DPI on both monitors?
Does it also happen if you disable "fullscreen exclusive" option in madVR? Also try the windowed overlay and Direct3D11 rendering options in madVR.
Try with this version of madVR:
http://madshi.net/madVR.zip
Just overwrite the files that were installed by the pack. No need to install any files that don't already exist.
It is either a bug in madVR, in Windows, or in your graphics driver.

Re: MPC + MadVR on SECOND monitor pixelated w/fullscreen
How would I go about changing my secondary TV/monitor's DPI? Why would I when every other program, and every other renderer in MPC works correctly? Also like I've said I've toggled just about every setting in MadVR including all of those. DirectX9 nor 11 make no difference. I overwrote with those files to no effect as well. If it is my graphics driver, it's still an isolated conflict with how MadVR is trying to render fullscreen on that particular monitor. Here is a screenshot of the debug screen while in fullscreen on the secondary monitor. The screenshot itself does not show the bug, but maybe something in the settings there can allude to what is causing it. Appreciate the help, seems like an odd issue and I hope it is an easy fix!

Re: MPC + MadVR on SECOND monitor pixelated w/fullscreen
DPI setting:
Windows Settings > Display > "Change the size of text, apps, and other items"
Try setting this to 100% on both monitors. Just as a test to see if it makes any difference.
Is the MPC UI located on the primary or on the seconday monitor?

Re: MPC + MadVR on SECOND monitor pixelated w/fullscreen
It was already on 100% for both. The MPC UI/video is only bugged during fullscreen on my secondary monitor, which is where I took the screenshot.

Re: MPC + MadVR on SECOND monitor pixelated w/fullscreen
Does the MPC UI turn normal again if you drag it onto the first monitor?
Try this:
Right-click on mpc-hc64.exe > Properties > Compatibility > "Disable display scaling on high DPI settings"
Try this:
Right-click on mpc-hc64.exe > Properties > Compatibility > "Disable display scaling on high DPI settings"
Re: MPC + MadVR on SECOND monitor pixelated w/fullscreen
Yes, again this bug is only present when in fullscreen on my secondary monitor. Changing the compatibility options did not help unfortunately, but at least it was something I had not already tried. I appreciate the continued support, but this really seems to be a MadVR issue so perhaps I should be asking there. Guess I was curious if I was the only K-Lite user experiencing this issue.
EDIT: Seems I have pin-pointed the issue. By default MadVR has as setting under Devices > (Afflicted Monitor) > display modes > switch to matching display mode... Once unticked the bug is gone.
For some reason this setting has been tripping up MadVR since my switch to Windows 10. Couldn't tell you why, but you could probably tell me why it's a bad idea to turn it off. However this seems to be my only working fix for when I want to watch files in fullscreen on my secondary monitor. I would be curious if a solution is ultimately found, or at least an explanation for my odd conflict with it, so I can only hope this thread continues to serve some purpose in shedding light, etc.
Thanks again!

Re: MPC + MadVR on SECOND monitor pixelated w/fullscreen
Interesting!
That option shouldn't do anything unless you also filled in the display mode list below it. What values were you using there? Perhaps a typo? In your second post here you mentioned a resolution of 1360x768, which I assume should be 1366x768.
If your monitor accepts non-native input resolutions, then it will apply scaling. Poor quality scaling would explain the blurriness.
