Audio problem when on speakers
Dear Codec Community,
I have a serious problem with Media Player Classic Audio when using my Monitors Built-In Speaker.
When I play any video file on MPC while using my speaker, it ignores the volume setting - even MUTE - completely and is extremely loud.
This does not occur at all when I use my logitech headset.
I've tried googling the problem, but ironically everyone seems to have a problem with too quiet audio.
I use Windows 7, the newest version of MPC and the K-Lite Codec Pack both 32 and 64 bit.
My Monitor is from acer.
I really don't know how to fix this problem and it's driving me nuts.
Please help me if you know anything about this issue.

Re: Audio problem when on speakers
We are talking about the volume controls of the player itself, right?
Are you able to control the volume through the Windows Speaker icon? It's in the right-bottom corner of the screen.

No,
as long as the player is open, even windows audio control gets "ignored". I can mute the speakers via the audio control pannel, but it still plays at the exact same loud volume as if nothing happened.

Re: Audio problem when on speakers
Did you perhaps enable audio pass-through during installation of the pack? If so, you can disable it here:
Codec Tweak Tool > Audio Output
Codec Tweak Tool > Audio Output
Re: Audio problem when on speakers
I am very sorry for the late reply.
Sadly I'm a pro at procrastinating things I don't like, which has happened to this issue *sigh*
I tried pretty much any audio setting I could find in the Codec Packs, but could not find the exact option you mentioned - and I guess if i did, it didn't work as the problem persisted through all changes I did.
Would you perhaps like some screenshots of my settings (Windows, MPC, Codec Packs)?

Re: Audio problem when on speakers
During playback:
MPC-HC menu > Play > Filters > copy filters list to clipboard
Then paste it here.
You can also make screenshots of your Windows sound settings.

- Filters:
Filters currently loaded:
- Default DirectSound Device
- Enhanced Video Renderer (custom presenter)
- Audio Switcher
- LAV Video Decoder (internal)
- LAV Audio Decoder (internal)
- LAV Splitter Source (internal)
As for Windows sound settings - there's a little problem I forgot about. I'm german and sadly my windows in german as well (Although I would love to have it in english), so you probably won't be able to read what my settings say.

Re: Audio problem when on speakers
Filter list is correct.
A different language is no problem. I should be able to compare the contents of the Windows with my own computer. I can use a translator if needed.
You seem to be using a manually installation of MPC-HC. That is not needed because the latest version is also included with the codec pack. You also mentioned that you are using both 32 and 64 bit version of the pack. I hope you are not using an old version? Current pack contains everything is a single package. You do NOT need to install the 64-bit pack.

Re: Audio problem when on speakers
Errrr... Well, I kinda am using the version 9.9.0 from 2013?
I thought the codecs were a "install and forget" and I only had to install the newest MPC to keep things up to date.
Guess I'll try getting the newest version, haha.
Edit: Man, this makes me look dumb as heck, damn it.

Re: Audio problem when on speakers
The codecs get updated frequently as well. So it is recommended to update at least once in a while.
Re: Audio problem when on speakers
As you have probably already thought, this seems to have fixed the issue wonderfully.
I have learned my lesson and will now try to update the Codec Pack as often as possible.
I'm sorry I turned out to be one of those very dumb user cases, haha - Thank you very much for your help.
