Sony Vegas and AVIs
Hi! I recently had to refresh Windows, so I'm setting everything up again.
Previously, I was using Vegas and it was able to open the AVIs created by FRAPS and DXtory just fine. My fresh install, however, can't import the very same AVI files. It gives a rather nonspecific error message: "An error occurred while opening a codec."
I'm on Windows 8.1 and using Vegas Pro 13.0. Here's a pastebin with all the MediaInfo on the AVI file.
I downloaded the mega version of the k-lite codec pack, allowed it to uninstall everything else it asked about, and also tried installing WMV9VCM after consulting the FAQ. No luck!
Let me know if you need any more information! Would love to get this running again.

Re: Sony Vegas and AVIs
You need to install the FRAPS VFW codec. I think that is the type of codec that Vegas uses in case of AVI files.
The codec pack only has a DirectShow decoder for Fraps.

Re: Sony Vegas and AVIs
The MediaInfo log shows that the file does not contain Fraps, but DXtory's own format (xtor). So you need that codec as well. It is not included in the codec pack.

Thanks! Problem solved. I guess it should have been obvious: just needed to install the programs I'd used to create the AVIs in the first place.
