Windows Movie Maker mpeg-2 Not Recognized
K-Lite Codec Pack Full version 11.1.0 installed on my windows 8.1 pro and it does not solve my Movie Maker issues on not being able to
recognize mpeg-2 files. I use Windows Movie maker alot to edit videos but when i try editing a MPEG-2 file it does recognize that type file. File will play in FLC media player but that is not the issue. Want to edit it in Windows Movie maker.

Re: Windows Movie Maker mpeg-2 Not Recognized
Microsoft has disabled MPEG2 playback in their own applications on Windows 8.1. To activate it you need to install the Media Center Addon (which is not free). http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/feature-packs
An alternative solution would be to convert the file to MP4 with Handbrake and then import the MP4 file into Movie Maker.
If you are trying to import a .vob file, then first try renaming it to for example .mpg or .avi. Then it might work.
