Windows Media Center - MKV no sound Empty Windows Media Center - MKV no sound

Hello everybody,

I have to deal with an ackward problem.
To be more specific, while mp4 and avi plays just fine with sound and subtitles, I haven't any sound when I play mkv files. The subtitles working fine also with mkv though.

Any thoughts what might cause this problem ?

I use the latest version of standard k-lite codec pack, and my windows version is the 8.1 pro with media center.

Thank you in advance !

Media Center uses a decoder from Microsoft by default for certain audio formats such as AC3 and DTS. It sometimes fails to work properly.

Codec Tweak Tool > MS Codec tweaks > disable the 64-bit MS DTV-DVD audio decoder

Right-click on a file and choose MediaInfo. There you can see what kind of audio format those files contain. With that information I can maybe give additional tips.

Do those files play correctly in Windows Media Player?

These is the media info from the mkv file that doesn't play the sound.
Yesterday that i tested it, the sound didn't play on both WMC & WMP

Today that i download and install K-Lite Mega Pack, it crashes on both WMC & WMP.... Shocked

DTS audio is handled by the Microsoft DTV-DVD Audio decoder. If you have re-installed the pack, then you may need to disable it again. WMC uses the 64-bit version. WMP uses the 32-bit version.

If you open the open with the GraphStudioNext tool, then you can see which decoder it uses.
