Extended Attributes for *.WV (wavepack) items not displayed in Explorer though the 64 bit VLC codec works fine
It is important for me to be able to properly determine the length (duration) of an audio file, along with its bit rate and bit depth (when possible). The four types of codecs that give me the most problems are M4A, APE, WMA and WV. Foobar 2000 plays all of them but using the codecs to display properly in Windows Explorer or XYplorer is another matter. Since I wish to be able to export, in mass, the attributes I have chosen for my many music files, I have been using XYplorer. Using K-lite basic it is able to properly extract the information for all but WV in Windows 7/64. This applies to native Windows Explorer. On the other hand VLC properly displays information for WV files in Windows 7/64 Explorer and I think XYplorer would too. Why is K-Lite basic not providing the extended attributes when VLC 64 bit does? Is there a problem that needs to be fixed?

Players themselves do not show file properties in Explorer. This is all done by Explorer itself, with the help of shell extensions.
The codec pack contains a shell extension called Icaros PropertyHandler, that is used for extracting file properties for several audio and video formats that are not natively supported by Windows. Icaros supports APE and WV.
If the properties show correctly for WV files in Windows Explorer, then you need to ask the developers of XYplorer why it doesn't work in their program. The codec pack installs both 64-bit and 32-bit shell extensions, so that can't be the problem (since XYplorer is 32-bit and Explorer is 64-bit).
If it also does not show all properties in Explorer, then please upload a sample file that has problems. Then the developer of Icaros can fix it. The WV files I have show correct properties.

I understand but expressed myself badly, and YES, there are such WV files which (in Windows Explorer) do not display length properly (They show 00:00) and do not show bit rate properly either when using K-lite basic. But DO show these attributes correctly on another computer with 64 bit VLC installed. Both computers run Windows 7/64. Here is a link to download such a file from BOX:

I can provide more such files and evidence (if needed) to show they do not display properly. I hope Icaros can reproduce this issue.

Metadata (tile, composer, etc) is extracted correctly for that file. Duration is indeed unknown. Same happens during playback, so perhaps something is wrong with the file headers.
I will send it to the developer of Icaros.
If it works on the other computer, I doubt it is because of VLC. Maybe you got some other shell extension installed?

Re: Extended Attributes for *.WV (wavepack) items not displayed in Explorer though the 64 bit VLC codec works fine
All other WV files in my music library have the same issue, so I doubt it is the headers. You can look at this PDF of a screen print:
https://app.box.com/s/ykt9m4009t1nije1yci37x7hsll77lyy
Which shows the extended attributes display correctly (in Windows Explorer) for this file, and others in that directory on the music computer itself. THAT computer has only Foobar 2000 and the 64 bit VLC but NOT K-lite. The computer networked to it, which does have K-Lite, when asked to display the same extended attributes for WV, will not do so. Therefore either Foobar codecs, or VLC codecs, or both, allow WV attributes to be displayed correctly (by windows explorer) while K-lite does not. Worse, I have Foobar 2000 on the networked computer too. So, if Foobar 2000 had codecs which allowed Windows Explorer to display extended attributed for WV files, the instllation of K-Lite basib just undid that!

Bug has been fixed. The next version of Icaros will show the correct duration for such files.
Re: Extended Attributes for *.WV (wavepack) items not displayed in Explorer though the 64 bit VLC codec works fine
When can that version, or a beta version of it, be downloaded? And if the latter (a beta), from where?

There will probably be an update available in a few days.
