When I play a video file I right click on the mouse to get options the player freezes. Also when updating to codec 10.9.5, I'm missing subtitles in the video file. So I went and got and version which helped but I end up with the first problem.

Does it also freeze if you press O to access the options?

Susbtitles should work just fine with the latest version. Can you give details about the video file and the subtitle?

Yes it works by press o for the options. For the subtitles won't appear automatically on the .mkv file. When I right clicked for the menu and head to subtitles, I get a no subtitles checked and is the only option.

Can you give me the filename of that mkv file? Then I can download it for testing.

I have checked the video file and subtitles are working fine. I am using version 10.9.8. Try changing the preferred MKV splitter to LAV with the Codec Tweak Tool.

That is probably because your primary language is set to Japanese. During installation there is an option to configure the preferred languages. At the bottom of that page there is an option to also show subtitles when the audio is in the primary language. By default that option is off.

You can fix it easily. Go to the settings of LAV Splitter. Change the "Subtitle selection mode" to "default" and make the subtitle box above it empty.
