[10.9.0] Default MP3 Decoder on XP
Hello! For some reason the Fraunhofer decoder is used instead of LAV Audio when I try playing an MP3 file with MPC-HC.
Is it intended behavior? Some of my MP3 files wouldn't play back correctly if the Fraunhofer decoder is used. What are the reasons not to use LAV Audio?
- Code:
Filters currently loaded:
- DirectSound: VIA HD Audio Output
- Audio Switcher
- MPEG Layer-3 Decoder
- LAV Splitter Source (internal)

It looks like the issue may be related to merits. Try the following steps:
- Go to MPC-HC -> Options -> External Filters.
- Add LAV Splitter, LAV Video Decoder, and LAV Audio Decoder to the list.
- Select "Prefer" for the three LAV filters' merits, and click on OK.

Lower the merit of the Fraunhofer decoder. Then you won't have to change any other settings.
GraphStudioNext > Graph > Insert Filter > Change Merit > select MERIT_NORMAL

Thank you, sirs! I haven't checked those problematic files since KLCP moved from ffdshow audio decoder, which probably had a higher merit. That's why I haven't noticed the problem for a long time.
