need comprehensive method for uninstalling mega codec pack
This has basically fubarred my system, and I want it gone. Uninstall did not remove all parts of it.
The support site has no useful information on how to remove this mega pack and all its other components
System restore points are too new to repair my system.
Someone please tell me how I can remove every tiny bit of this codec pack from my computer, please. I do not want to reinstall my system, I cant find some of the OEM software CDs I need for my blu ray player and other things.
Please tell me there is someone out there who knows how to get this off my PC, the 10.8.0 mega pack.

The uninstaller removes everything.
You need to provide some details about what it did not remove. Then I can help you. But I get a feeling that you just assuming the codec pack is responsible for a problem that you are having. In that case, I need details about the problem.

Re: need comprehensive method for uninstalling mega codec pack
As soon as I installed this codec pack I am unable to get in my geforce experience utility anymore, and I am also unable to dump hardware encoded video from my video card using the provided utility anymore.
I see that many full screen applications were invoking LAV and some other systray icon that is part of this installer, which I found rather annoying since I uninstalled this codec.
Now I have various videos that dont play anymore, and I have the remnants of things installed from this codec pack that are not part of the uninstall.
I appreciate what you are getting at regarding a description of my issue to track down what may not be the result of the codec, but I dont appreciate you telling me that the uninstaller actually removes everything because it plainly doesnt.
I would love to give you better details but the stupid icons in my systray (LAV and one other) which i believe are related to the ffd and lav stuff that this codec installed on my computer and did not UNINSTALL, I would gladly give them to you but I was lucky to even see them pop up in the systray during a full screen video play because I happened to hit ctrl-esc for another reason, and cannot find where they reside, or locate them in running processes, which is made harder by apparently they are only invoked during full screen video.
Let's put my issues with my computer aside for the sake of getting to the root of this issue: the uninstaller does not remove everything that it puts in. I want everything it put in to be gone. Does anyone have a comprehensive and complete way to get this off my computer?

Re: need comprehensive method for uninstalling mega codec pack
The codec pack does not have any effect on those Nvidia utilities. There is a simple explanation for your encoding problem. Nvidia removed the CUDA video encoding DLLs from their latest few drivers (and moved that functionality elsewhere). Many tools depend on that for the hardware accelerated encoding. You can 'fix' that by uses the DLLs from an older driver. As soon as I installed this codec pack I am unable to get in my geforce experience utility anymore, and I am also unable to dump hardware encoded video from my video card using the provided utility anymore.

There is an option in the installer for disabling the systray icons. Some people like them, some don't.I see that many full screen applications were invoking LAV and some other systray icon that is part of this installer, which I found rather annoying since I uninstalled this codec.
Were there any non-multimedia apps using those codecs? Details please. There is blacklisting functionality that can be used in case of undesirable usage or compatibility issues.
Details please about what is left behind. A standard windows installation is only capable of playing a limited number of video formats. So without any additional codecs you can't play everything. Now I have various videos that dont play anymore, and I have the remnants of things installed from this codec pack that are not part of the uninstall.
It does remove everything. If it did not work correctly for you it means something went (terribly) wrong. Or maybe you made a unintentional mistake. Or maybe the uninstaller was somehow aborted before it could finish. I don't know. You did not mention getting any error messages or other irregular behavior. So I can't do more than make educated guesses. Be aware that this software has been exhaustively tested and is used by more than a million people worldwide without any of these problems. So this is an exceptional situation.appreciate what you are getting at regarding a description of my issue to track down what may not be the result of the codec, but I dont appreciate you telling me that the uninstaller actually removes everything because it plainly doesnt.
My first advice would be to install the pack again. That will fix the uninstaller in case it is now missing or if it was damaged. After that run the uninstaller again. It should then work as expected.
It is easy to locate the codecs. The installer puts them in c:\Program Files (x86)\K-Lite Codec Pack. The uninstaller is in that same folder and is named unins000.exe.
Re: need comprehensive method for uninstalling mega codec pack
As for the geforce experience not opening, just google for "geforce experience not opening" and you will find several solutions for different causes of that problem.
Re: need comprehensive method for uninstalling mega codec pack
its not that I am annoyed by the systray icons, its im annoyed about how this has broken my computer, and i know these systray icons are part of the install of this codec that has done it, and even though I have uninstalled this pack, it obviously remains behind.
i dont want to blacklist this crap, i want to delete it, and remove it from my registry.....something the uninstaller should do
I will install this again, and then uninstall it again.......again.

this time i will choose a nvidia hardware LAV decoding method, since it wont uninstall anyway, maybe this will make my stuff work correctly after it remains all over my computer

Re: need comprehensive method for uninstalling mega codec pack
so after installing this again, and choosing a hardware method instead of software for my decoding, I no longer have the phantom extra alt-F4 when i try to close a media type that still plays, but i can still no longer get into geforce experience, and when i dump a shadowplay video it appears to not write any file at all. hard to confirm my directory for this since i cant open the utility anymore since I installed your codec pack.
now for uninstall again
now for uninstall again

Re: need comprehensive method for uninstalling mega codec pack
OK so it seems that the media center / media player stuff in your codec for windows media player which does not revert back to its original state is more than likely the culprit of what geforce experience will no longer operate for me.
There is a solution, which is to install the windows media feature pack for windows 7. The problem is this package from microsoft is only applicable to N and KN versions of windows 7 and 8, and since I have a version of windows 7 that comes with media player and center already, the package will not install for me to correct what this codec has broken.
It looks like I will just have to suck it up and reinstall my system from scratch, and make a mental note to never install this codec again.
Thanks for offering absolutely no useful help, claiming your product does uninstall properly, ignoring my points regarding the evidence of this by blowing it off as someone merely annoyed with a systray icon (that I was lucky enough to see), and insisting that the problem must lie with me or my computer.
This is what I get for getting suggestions from a page centered on console users, this entire mistake was done with the intention of making media center accept mkv files for streaming to an x-bone which I dont even own.
PC MASTER RACE FOR LIFE.
thanks for nothing

Re: need comprehensive method for uninstalling mega codec pack
If you keep an open mind, then I can help solve these problems and prove that they weren't caused by the pack. Trust me, I have been in this situation several times, and those who have worked with me have always been satisfied with the outcome.
Sounds like another application just stole the focus of the player. The codecs do not create their own windows (apart from obvious settings dialogs), but run under the process of the host application (read: player). So it is technically impossible for them to create the problem you describe here.another new bonus feature i have is when i press Alt-F4 to close a media window, it closes some invisible window and not my media, then i press it again and it closes the actual player.
First of all, it doesn't do any 'stuff' with WMC/WMP. It just extends playback functionality. You are just making assumptions again. Also, Geforce Experience does not depend on any codecs. Like I said in my previous reply, a simple Google search will reveal many difference causes for this tool to stop working. Ranging from just a broken driver install, corrupt settings, incompatibility with AVG software, incompatibility with some adware, etc. If you have trouble finding them I can make a list.OK so it seems that the media center / media player stuff in your codec for windows media player which does not revert back to its original state is more than likely the culprit of what geforce experience will no longer operate for me.
Did it work? Any errors? Are the files gone from c:\Program Files (x86)\K-Lite Codec Pack ?now for uninstall again
I can't provide help if you ignore the things I am saying. The software works fine and I know what the codecs do and don't. You keep saying that you provide evidence of things, but all you are describing are results, not the causes of those results, which may be totally different than you think. Again, try to keep an open mind. I understand you may be frustrated, but do understand that I am trying to be friendly and helpful. I do that because I am confident that I can actually help. Thanks for offering absolutely no useful help, claiming your product does uninstall properly, ignoring my points regarding the evidence of this by blowing it off as someone merely annoyed with a systray icon (that I was lucky enough to see), and insisting that the problem must lie with me or my computer.
Re: need comprehensive method for uninstalling mega codec pack
Some solutions for GE/ShadowPlay problems found with Google search:
1) Re-install driver and choose to do a 'clean install', which resets all Nvidia settings to defaults.
2) http://www.tomsguide.com/answers/id-2198320/geforce-experience-working.html#13831001
3) Close the background process "AdAppMgr.exe" (Autodesk Application Manager).
4) Re-install AVG or replace it with another virus scanner. The web shield functionality of Avast AV also seems to cause problems.
5) Other incompatible programs are: Asus ROG Game First III, and K9
6) Sometimes ShadowPlay stops working. Solution is to open GE and turn ShadowPlay off and then on again.
7) Close "nvidia geforce experience backend" process (NvBackend.exe *32) and restart it.
8) A corrupt .NET installation. Repair tool:

Re: need comprehensive method for uninstalling mega codec pack
I would like to add that I have been using klite for over 7 years now with various nvidia video cards and have not had this issue. the admin, or forum members, will gladly help if you provide some meaningful information to help debug the issue.
