If you have a 8xx series card, then this topic contains a solution:

Re: how to play using nvidia
i want to ask you is that normal when i force mpc to use nvidia gpu from nvidia control to play video but lav still using Intel quicksync? because i forget to change HDecoder acceleration to cuvid. but when i change to cuvid, mpc back using software.
HDecoder quicksync ->mpc default -> work
HDecoder quicksync ->mpc force nvidia -> black screen
HDecoder cuvid -> mpc default -> black screen (fallback to software)
HDecoder cuvid -> mpc force nvidia -> black screen (fallback to software)
HDecoder software -> mpc default -> work
HDecoder software -> mpc force nvidia -> black screen
all with sound
maybe i still see black screen in mpc because 2 gpu working together. can you help me fix that problem? sorry my English is bad

Re: how to play using nvidia
DXVA2 works with both Intel and NVIDIA.
That Doom9 forum topic I linked to was updated yesterday with newer settings. Maybe those work for you. Also don't forget to add "mpc-hc_nvo.exe" or "mpc-hc64_nvo.exe" to the application profile in NVIDIA Inspector. By default it only contains "mpc-hc.exe".
These issues are a known problem with the 8xx series cards. Older cards have less problems. It is a driver bug which will hopefully get fixed soon by NVIDIA.

Re: how to play using nvidia
A setting in madVR that you could try:
rendering > general settings > use separate device for presentation
You should also disable NNEDI scaling if you have enabled that, because that doesn't work well with NVIDIA Optimus.

Re: how to play using nvidia
still not working. just first frame, and video stop. I'm really confused about what's causing this.

Re: how to play using nvidia
Other people are also having similar problems with the video showing just one frame.
According to the developer of madVR it is a driver problem. There is nothing we can do to fix it. NVIDIA has to provide a solution.

Re: how to play using nvidia
Hello sir it's me again.
After i update K-Lite Codec Pack 11.0.8 nvidia Optimus black screen fixes. But there still bug in that version like video stop working in windowed (normal and fullscreen work).
And in the latest version k-lite 11.0.5 can't detect optimus. mpc name not change like mpc-hv_nvo.exe so i can't add to nvidia profile to force using nvidia gpu
Sorry if my English is bad!

Re: how to play using nvidia
The detection works, but the renaming was disabled because of all the problems. Once these issues are confirmed to be fixed, then renaming can be switched on again. You can also adjust the application profile of the driver to force the nvidia GPU for MPC-HC. I shall give instructions for that.
Good to hear that the problems with madVR have been fixed at least partially. With windowed I assume you mean the "enable windowed overlay" option in madVR? Best would be to submit a bug report directly to the developer of madVR, so he can ask you for additional information and perform tests. The bug tracker can be found at:

To adjust the application profile:
1) Download NVIDIA Inspector
http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/nvidia-inspector-download.html
2) Start the program
3) Click on the configuration button at the right side of the driver version.
4) Select the Media Player Classic profile, add mpc-hc64.exe
5) set "Enable application for Optimus" to "SHIM_RENDERING_MODE_ENABLE (0x00000001)"
6) Set "Shim Rendering Mode Options per application for Optimus" to "SHIM_RENDERING_OPTIONS_ENABLE_DWM_ASYNC_PRESENT (0x00000040)"

Re: how to play using nvidia
You need to edit the existing profile. You can't change it from the NVIDIA control panel, it is read-only there, you need to use NVIDIA Inspector.
You are talking about three modes: normal/windowed/fullscreen. What is the difference between 'normal' and 'windowed'?

Re: how to play using nvidia
when i add mpc to Nvidia inspector mpc profile already existing. Then i search in 'profile' but i can't find it, because i write 'mpc' not 'media player classic'.
normal it's mean when fist time open file. windowed mean when video maximize

Re: how to play using nvidia
The existing profile is named "Media Player Classic".
You can get latest madVR v0.87.17 here:
http://madshi.net/madVR.zip
All you need to do to update is to replace the file from the codec pack. No need for the other files in the .zip.
It probably won't fix your issues. You really need to submit a bug report to madshi for that. He doesn't have an optimus system, so he relies on feedback from users.
