Making Picasa show all videos as thumbnails Empty Making Picasa show all videos as thumbnails

Hi!
I installed the K-Lite Codec Pack and originally kept the settings as they were. However, Picasa for instance doesn't show thumbnails of every video type. On my other computer, Picasa does that. I don't know why. For the moment, videos are played by LAV (as I guess by the taskbar icon). Should I change that to ffdshow? Or what can I do so that Picasa recognized each and every video, irrespective of the codecs used?
Thanks!

The codec pack contains Icaros, a plugin for Explorer to generate thumbnails. Are the thumbnails displaying correctly in Explorer? If not, try clearing the thumbnail cache (Codec Tweak Tool > Thumbnails > Options).

I don't know if Picasa uses the same thumbnails as Explorer, or if it generates thumbnails by itself. Which formats do not have a thumbnail?

In fact, the thumbnails appear in Windows Explorer, but not all in Picasa. The ones that don't appear in Picasa are videos encoded in VP6 and VP6F. No taskbar icon is displayed while Picasa is open, but when I play the VP6(F) videos (which works), then LAV is displayed. I just don't know how Picasa gets its thumbnails, and maybe there's a way to force something there to fix the issue.

Maybe it will work if you enable VP6F in ffdshow video decoder.

Such videos often use some cropping at the bottom and/or right side. Picasa might have trouble handling that. Certain old video renderers like Overlay Mixer also have some troubles with that.
