Please help with AMD drivers and codecs [SOLVED]
Hi there, I have been using your codecs so I can play mp4, flv etc using Windows movie maker.
I use the vista movie maker 64bit only on Windows 7 and like to keep it that way.
For a couple of years now I use 9.6.5 codecs and AMD 12.10 drivers and it all works great.
Recently I have been wanting to upgrade my drivers to the 13.x version and noticed that 13.4, 13.9 and 13.12 all break movie maker and it wont display flv or mp4 anymore.
I have spent many, MANY hours to try and get it to work and nothing seems to fix it.
Works fine with 12.10, not working with 13.x, simple as that.
Do any of you know what changed with AMD's drivers and what would cause this?
EDIT###****
I have FINALLY FIGURED OUT WHAT IT WAS just now!!....it is caused by the "enable dynamic contrast" setting in Catalyst control center...unchecking that fixed movie maker back to normal.
My God you don't know how many hours of exhaustion I spent on this...
Hope it helps someone else.

You should also consider updating the codec pack to the latest version.

I'd like to but it installs everything into the 32bit folder...and its very difficult to set everything back to get movie maker working again.
I don't know why it puts 64bit codecs in the x86 program files.
Also the basic installer has
Removed ffdshow
Removed Haali Media Splitter
I think I should stay for now, it works great.

Everything is placed in one folder to keep things organized. It is perfectly legal to put 64bit stuff in the x86 programs files folder. It of course only makes sense to do so, in combination with 32bit files.
ffdshow and haali are still included in the Full and Mega versions. Basic has less content compared to old versions. But theoretically you don't ffdshow and haali. Everything is handled fine (and even better) by LAV Filters. If Movie Maker needs any special settings, let me know, then they could be documented in the FAQ. For normal playback, everything works fine out-of-the-box.
