Problems with x264 files Empty Problems with x264 files

Post by mmmihalj Fri Jul 18, 2014 6:57 pm

Hello everyone,
I have problem with playing 1280x720 x264 (cca 1 Gb) mkv files on MPC-HC.They are skipping frames and glitching. When I tried playing same files but smaller in size and with lower resolution (720x404, 371 Mb) they are runing smoothly. I don't think it's CPU issue because I have new Intel i5 @3,4 GHz and CPU usage never goes above 20%. I tried installing other codecs and using other players but it's always the same and glitching always appear at the same time.  I have LG LED 23 inch monitor with refresh rate @60 Hz. Same files run smoothly on my 3-4 old HP ProBook.  Can anyone

Here is my log file:

Uninstall Matroska Splitter and AC3Filter. Then re-install the codec pack. Use default settings. Don't change video renderer in MPC-HC.

Setting your refreshrate to 59 Hz will give smoother video playback. But this is not directly related to your current issue.

I did all that and nothing changes.

Given that you have a pretty fast CPU, I would expect the CPU usage to be lower than 20% for such videos. Do these files perhaps contain animated SSA/ASS subtitles? If so, is playback smooth if you disable subtitle display?

No subtitles, just video.

You can get a newer version of your sound driver here:
http://filehippo.com/download_realtek_high_definition_audio_vista_64
Maybe that helps.

If you press Ctrl+J during playback in MPC-HC, then it will display some statistical information. It also displays a timing graph. Does it show huge spikes (way outside graph) during the glitches?

Does the problem also occur with the sample files from these sites:

http://www.auby.no/files/video_tests/
