No DTS audio in Windows Media Player
Problem:
I would like to watch a .m2ts file and usually I use either VLC or Media Player Classic, as they play literally everything. However, with activated DXVA they both show huge artifacts whenever there is a perspective change in the movie. (Never had this before with other movies in .mkv or .avi)
Attempts to solve the problem:
My question:
How do I have to configure K-Lite (and where exactly), so that WMP plays DTS sound too?
Thank you very much in advance!

Attempts to solve the problem:
- Disabling DXVA prevents those artifacts, but my CPU is too slow and will therefore produce stuttering output whenever there is much motion in the scene.
- I even tried to watch it in a LiveLinux: it obviously doesn't support hardware acceleration, but is nevertheless a bit faster then VLC / Media Player without DXVA on Windows. (still not really usuable)
- Finally, I even tried Windows Media Player (WMP) and was amazed, that it doesn't have any problems with video playback: no artifacts or anyhting else!
But: There is no sound, probably because it is DTS audio. (Sound was no problem in VLC or Media Player Classic!) - Therefore, I installed the K-Lite codec package (Full), but it still doesn't play sound.
My question:
How do I have to configure K-Lite (and where exactly), so that WMP plays DTS sound too?
Thank you very much in advance!

Re: No DTS audio in Windows Media Player
Codec Tweak Tool > Win7DSFilterTweaker > Media Foundation > disable for .m2ts
and if that doesn't do the trick then
MS Codec Tweaks > disable Microsoft DTV-DVD Audio decoder
and if that doesn't do the trick then
MS Codec Tweaks > disable Microsoft DTV-DVD Audio decoder
Still no success even with disabling MediaFoundation
Thank you very much for your quick response.
I tried both options (choosing both the 32- and 64-bit options at the same time) and had to change the ownership of the "msmpeg2adec.dll" file as it was assigned to "TrustedInstaller", which led to an error message.
Unfortunately, Windows Media Player still doesn't play any sound. I also restarted my computer, but with no success for the problem.
Why doesn't K-Lite play the audio now and what can I furthermore change?

Re: No DTS audio in Windows Media Player
You can thank Microsoft for this mess. They locked playback down to their own codecs.
You should not have needed to change the ownership on the file. The Codec Tweak Tool takes care of that automatically. Which error did you get?
By default, WMP12 will use Media Foundation for M2TS files. After disabling that, it will fall back to DirectShow. After renaming the Microsoft decoder, it should then fall back to using decoder from the codec pack. You could try additional MS Codec Tweaks, such as disabling the MS video decoder.
You could test if playback works in the GraphStudioNext tool. That shows you which DirectShow filters it uses.
The file contains DTS MA, which is an extended variant of DTS. However, it also contain a normal DTS core stream for backwards compatibility. The decoders from the pack can handle this correctly. The Microsoft audio decoder just gives silence.

Re: No DTS audio in Windows Media Player
The default WMP that Windows uses is the 32-bit one. So you only need to change those tweaks. Media Center on the other hand is 64-bit.
