distorted or broken sound at lower bite rate mp3

Hi,
When I play 32 or below bite rate mp3 music on Windows media player, sound is distorted. Otherwise there aren't any problem at higher bite rate mp3s.
My laptop configuration has Windows media player 12, K-Lite codec pack standart 10.4.6, conexant sound driver.
How can be the sound problem solved?

I assume the same files play properly in other players?

It could be a bug in the audio decoder that WMP12 uses. It uses a decoder from Microsoft itself by default. You can change the preferred MP3 decoder with the Codec Tweak Tool. I recommend using LAV Audio.

Updating your sound driver may also help. Your current driver might have trouble with certain sample rates. A file with such low bitrate might also be using a different sample rate than your other files.
