MPC-HC plays no subs for some newer vids but WMP does (SOLVED)
Some videos that show in the info as Advanced Video Codec are not showing any subtitles in Media Player Classic in KLM 10.4.5. They stopped appearing in the last version 10.3.5 I had installed so I upgraded but there was no improvement. The subtitles do appear properly in Windows Media Player 11. This is in Windows XP Professional 64-bit Edition. I already read the FAQ and applied the "Autoload VSFilter" option to "ON" for the Haali splitter, but that did not fix anything. The Haali icon was NOT appearing in the menu bar, so I had to go to the main menu to open up the Haali options. The only icons that appear when MPC is playing a video are the LAV decoder and splitter. So now I am opening subtitled videos in Windows Media Player because it saves the headache of having to switch when I discover that MPC is not going to show the subtitles. What other options are there to change that might address this issue?
SOLVED -- I disabled the MPC internal subtitle renderer. Now all subs appear properly.

Can you test this:
1) Re-enable internal subtitle renderer
2) Set video renderer to "VMR-7 (windowed)" in options > playback > output
3) Play video. DirectVobSub should be loaded. If not, that would be a bug.
4) Set video renderer to "VMR-9 (renderless)"
5) Play video. Internal subtitle render should be used. Check if subtitle display is enabled by looking at Play>Subtitles, or by pressing S.

I followed the steps above. Subtitles play for VMR-7 (windowed). Subtitles disappear after selecting VMR-9 (renderless). This is with subtitle renderer enabled.

There is a bug report of a similar problem on the MPC-HC bug tracker:
https://trac.mpc-hc.org/ticket/4273
If a bug exists, it will hopefully be fixed soon.
