Sound comes and goes every few seconds on mp4 files, video plays fine

As stated, the sound comes and goes only on mp4 files. Video plays fine. This is on mpc player.

I searched online and found a few other people had this same audio problem, but I found no solutions.

I just installed it tonight along with k-lite, I made sure they were the newest editions.

I installed mpc and k-lite because I'd been using vlc player and it worked 98% of the time, but suddenly it wouldn't play mp4's anymore. Oddly it played only the audio but no video.

I'm using windows 7, I just updated my audio and video drivers.

It's an old laptop dell xps m1330.

Does it happen spontaneously or only after using the seekbar?

It happens spontaneously.

The only type of file that will play perfectly every time is avi
