Videos Playing Fast
i am getting totally frustrated. all my videos [.flv, .avi, .mp4, etc.] are playing fast in MPC-HC and WMP, but not with the VLC player, which i know uses it's own codecs. i have updated my drivers, reset everything with Codec Tweak Tool and rebooted. i have done this several times and the problem still exists. i am copying the log and hoping someone can spot the problem and suggest a fix. thanks in advance!

Playback speed issues are usually audio related.
Some suggestions:
1) Select a stereo (2.0) speaker configuration. Both in the Codec Tweak Tool and the Windows Control Panel.
2) Try both DirectSound and WaveOut audio renderer in MPC-HC.
MPC-HC options > Playback > Output > Audio renderer
3) Re-install audio driver again. You should be able to find a newer one at the VIA website. PC manufacturers are often less up-to-date.

OMG - thank you! it wasn't the driver, but i went in and configured the speakers again, as you suggested, and it solved the issue. i had no idea the audio could screw up video playback speed. i can build my own computer, but i still have a lot to learn. thank you again!

Probably a bug in the driver when it does channel mixing. By setting the correct amount of channels everywhere, not mixing is needed, and the problem is avoided.
