mpg play problem
I play a mpg video with WMP12 under Win8.1 and no problem. When a click on progress bar (forward movie) video width is contracted, black bars appair at left-right sides of movie and video aspect ratio is corrupted. Why?
2nd problem: I cant play vobs (DVD image).
I have last Basic version.
Thanks.

Re: mpg play problem
WMP12 is only capable of playing DVDs when you install the Media Center add-on for Windows 8. This is not a matter of missing codecs, but a limitation set by Microsoft. Other players, such as MPC-HC that is included in the Standard version of the codec pack, do not have this limitation.
Does the mpg file also change AR if you do not forward?
The Standard version of the pack contains MPC-HC, which is an excellent video player. You can use that for DVD playback (.ifo and .vob). You could also test if that handles your mpg files better. The codec pack installer allows selecting the preferred player for each individual file extension. So you can continue using WMP12 for all other formats if you prefer that player.

Re: mpg play problem
AR is changed only when I forward, in normal playback no problem. Please help me! Thanks.Admin wrote:

EDIT: this mpg is 16:9 but explorer properties show 720x576. When movie is started, this is 16:9; after forward, it seems that movie is resized to 4:3 adding side black bars.

Re: mpg play problem
I need to test the file to be able to say what might be wrong. Can you upload the file somewhere for me? Or tell me where you got it from.
Re: mpg play problem
I sent a PM...I wait for your test. Thanks.

Re: mpg play problem
A solution for this file:
LAV Video decoder > Video Settings > uncheck "Use Stream Aspect Ratio"
LAV Video decoder > Video Settings > uncheck "Use Stream Aspect Ratio"
Re: mpg play problem
I tried and no forward AR changing, but movie is played at 4:3 and it's deformed. This is 16:9.Admin wrote:A solution for this file:

EDIT: using LAV Splitter for mpg format, movie AR is ok at 16:9.
So I uncheck "Use Stream Aspect Ratio" and I use LAV Splitter, right?

Re: mpg play problem
Yes, that is correct.
This file contains incorrect AR flags in the video stream, so it is kind of broken. With the settings above the AR from the container is used and the AR from the video stream is ignored.

Re: mpg play problem
It's strange because mpg file is maked from mov movie (Panasonic videocam) using VideoCam Suite, original Panasonic software.Admin wrote:Yes, that is correct.

Ok but this setting works only if I use LAV splitter for mpg type.Admin wrote:With the settings above the AR from the container is used and the AR from the video stream is ignored.

Re: mpg play problem
I reopen this topic because I installed v10.7.1 and I have the same problem.
LAV Splitter is enabled to play "mpeg" file (not "mpg" extension because this not exists) and I deselected "Use Stream Aspect Ratio" but my mpg 16:9 movie is played at 4:3. No problem with v10.6.0.
EDIT: Sorry, in "Preferred splitter" there is MPG extension and I selected LAV Splitter.

Re: mpg play problem
Are LAV Splitter and Video decoder both being used by WMP12, meaning you see their icons in the system tray?
Can you give a link to the file? I don't think I still have your previous file.

Re: mpg play problem
