50fps file very juttery
hi all, first of all, I am using K-Lite codec pack/mpc in association with CoreAVC (with DXVA) and haali, also I have tried both EVR and madvr. The video I am trying to play is Video: MPEG4 Video (H264) 1280x720 50fps [Video] Audio: Dolby AC3 48000Hz stereo [Audio]. The file plays very jittery i.e is often lower than 50fps and then even higher than 50fps and I am wondering if this is expected behavior from this type of file using the codec/filter/presenter setup I am or if this is unusual? Lastly I have a GTX 260. Thanks for any help offered.

I forgot to add in my 1st post that I am using 1080/50hz resolution and that I am playing the file with V-Sync ON which is the main reason it is suprising it goes ABOVE 50 fps!

If you are using Windows Vista/7/8, then you should try LAV Video decoder instead of CoreAVC. That has a better DXVA2 implementation.

I'm suprised again that Cuda couldn't handle the file, since I have an ok card. Or is it just CoreAVC??? I also thought that it's a good decoder till now.. and do you know why the fps goes above 50 (I check with fraps) when i have Vsync on? Thanks for the help as well

CoreAVC has become obsolete. It is no longer being developed and there are no reasons for using it anymore. LAV Video decoder has less bugs and also supports DXVA and NVIDIA CUVID hardware acceleration.

When fraterate goes above refreshrate, then it will probably just drop frames.
VSync option in MPC-HC should be turned off on Windows 7/8. The standard VSync handling in Windows usually does a better job.
