I came across the changelog for v10.1.0 that

MPC-HC is now given a different filename on systems running NVIDIA Optimus. This allows choosing your NVIDIA GPU as the preferred GPU for MPC-HC.
How to enable this? I still can't change "Integrated Graphic" in Nvidia Control Panel for mpc-hc

Thank you

Info:
Windows 7 SP1
K-Lite Mega Codec Pack 10.1.0

rename mpc-hc.exe to mpc-hc-qs.exe for example. I had the same problem. Like that you'll be able to use Intel Quicksync if you have it Smile

but that'll make the files need to be associated again right?

UPDATE: Yes. I need to reassociate the files again. But now the icon changes to the one like the default on Windows. I like it better when they have MPC icons

The install will detect if Optimus is present and automatically rename to mpc-hc_nvo.exe. It will also create correct file associations and updates will also work properly.

It seems that Optimus is not detected on your systems. That means the detection need to be improved. Do you guys know of any files or Registry keys that it could check for? It currently checks for this registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{B2FE1952-0186-46C3-BAEC-A80AA35AC5B8}_Display.Optimus

Try to check for this:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\NVIDIA Corporation\Global\CoprocManager\OptimusEnhancements

if its value is 1 then Optimus is present.

Sorry but this is just guesswork since I only have one notebook

Yes, that seems to be a good candidate. Thanks.

BTW I do have HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{B2FE1952-0186-46C3-BAEC-A80AA35AC5B8}_Display.Optimus

but why the installer doesn't detect it?

It might be checking for uninstallstring value inside that key, which may not exist in this particular case.

But that will certainly get fixed. Checking for the other key as well should make it work with custom modified drivers as well.
