.mkv movies going all green with latest version, help!
hello
i have just installed on my system the latest kazaa standard pack, version klcp_update_993_20130513 with update klcp_update_993_20130513 and i noticed that on several .mkv videos, they are not playing well anymore. they appear all green, it flickers, looks all messed up, audio works fine. i tried to change output options and for instance if i use "enhanced video renderer" but not the "custom presenter", it works fine although the green frame appears for a few seconds.
if i change renderer, i still get the green frame though is only at the beginning of the video, the rest of the movie works ok, never happened before, why???
since i have also updated the video drivers of my laptop, i am not 100% sure if it's a problem with kazaa codec pack, i'd just like to know if it's a known issue with this latest version.
many thanks
gabrio

Re: .mkv movies going all green with latest version, help!
OK did some more testing
K-Lite_Codec_Pack_930_Standard didn't give me the green frames problem so i tested other versions
rolled back one K-Lite_Codec_Pack_985_Standard - problem again
and then i finally found K-Lite_Codec_Pack_980_Standard and upgraded with K-Lite Codec Pack Update 9.8.4 and is perfect.
i think there's something going on. for the note i have an HP DV-6 w/ intel HD 3000 and Ati Radeon 6490m
hope it helps, let me know if there's some issue
thanks

Re: .mkv movies going all green with latest version, help!
Two things you can try with latest version:
1) Disable hardware acceleration
2) Change preferred splitter for MKV from Haali to LAV
Based on the results of the above we can do further testing.
I suspect it is DXVA related. This is one of the changes in MPC-HC in between 9.8.4 and 9.8.5:

I will try that later on, btw not sure if that's related but i noticed that after updating my ATI and Intel HD3000 video drivers, now both FF and IE9 with hardware accelaration enabled have a strange "all black" frame happening when i pull down the menus.
it somewhat looks similar to the green frame thing in the videos.

thanks for pointing this out, i have found out something very interesting:
when i set the PC via bios to "Fixed" Graphic Card mode, that means it forces to use the ATI card by default, the issues with FF and IE9 i said above are solved, so i thought let's check Kazaa too... i just removed the 9.8.0 and re installed the very latest release and guess what? it works as a charm!
and the strange thing is, if i set the control panel to switch to the intel HD3000 when on battery, it is still working OK, so it has something to do with when i set "dynamic" from the BIOS.
but this solution works fine for me, i will let the author of the drivers know about this, i dont think that is an issue with Kazaa codecs at this point.
what you think?
thanks,
Gabrio

Yes, the dynamic switching is often a cause of problems.
