16:9 mp4 file only 4:3

16:9 mp4 file only 4:3
hi
i have some mp4 files which are in 16:9
but mpc hc plays them only in 4:3
(vlc plays them in 16:9, the normal mpc hc 1.65 version wont play the files at all)

but why is the ratio not correct detected ?
i have some mp4 files which are in 16:9

The container also has an aspect ratio value. That one is used by default (when available) because that is in most cases the correct value when it differs from the video AR.
LAV Video decoder has an option for adjusting this behavior. It is called "Use Stream Aspect Ratio".
