MadVR - auto exclusive 10-bit HDR
Hi!
I'm new to this forum and came seeking help.
I use K-Lite Codec Pack with MP-HC and MadVR for HDR. My GPU is RTX 3090 via Display Port with monitor. I also stream audio through HDMI to home cinema.
My monitor is LG 38GL950G-B and it has 2 main modes which I'm interested in using it:
Main mode / games: 160Hz, 8-bit, HDR400, G-Sync
Movie mode: 120Hz, 10-bit (FRC), HDR400, G-Sync
But it is inconvinient for me to change refresh rate, then again bit resolution in Windows settings.
I wonder if it is possible to make K-Lite/MadVR change it automatically when 10-bit video or HDR video is opened and then revert when it is closed?
I'd like to use 160Hz/8bit for everyday's use, but in better movies 120Hz/10bit.
Regards!

MadVR can automatically switch the display mode.
madvr options > devices > display modes
madvr options > devices > display modes

All you need to do is add "2160p120" in that textbox.
Then madvr can switch to your 120Hz mode.
Then madvr can switch to your 120Hz mode.

3840x1600p120
It changes my monitor to:
3840x1600 120Hz, but 8bit
I'd like it to change it from 3640x1600 160Hz 8bit to 120Hz 10bit.
Is there any additional parameter I could add to change my screen to 10bit?

Re: MadVR - auto exclusive 10-bit HDR
You must configure 10bit output in the NVIDIA driver settings for that resolution.
Re: MadVR - auto exclusive 10-bit HDR
Here is the thing:
I have to lower via this menu refresh rate to 120Hz, so I can see after the change 10bit option, and then change it to 10bit... And after the movie, I have to change at one time both 120Hz->160Hz and 10bit->8bit.
Much of a hassle, that's why I asked if MadVR could do this change automatically.

Re: MadVR - auto exclusive 10-bit HDR
Madvr only changes the refresh rate. It does not overrule the bitdepth of the refresh rate.
As far as I know the NVIDIA control panel allows setting different bitdepth for each refreshrate. At least at one point it did.
Adjust 120Hz to 10bit. Press Apply. Then set 160Hz to 8bit and Apply.
If it doesn't work, then I can only suggest to always use 120Hz.

I created this account just to say how stupid this "help" is. OP's question was very clear. If you can't read, don't pretend to offer help.
To OP - I know this post is old, but in case you're still looking for an actual answer - no, I don't think madVR has this functionality. However, madVR's dithering is good enough that leaving it in 8-bit with dithering should be acceptable. Test for yourself.

It seems that you in fact are the one who don't read nor understand things.
