VP3 codec pc game

I have an old PC game that use for video the vp3 codec.
The video in game don't play and all it shows is a black screen. the k lite package support the vp3 codec?

In the PC game DVD it has an old installer that write it (but i dint install it as it is from 2003):

VP3 Version 3.2.6.1 Decoder Tune

This codec don't work correctly if VP3's DirectShowFilter is installed your computer.

How to check whether DirectShowFilter is installed.
1. Delete or Rename vp31vfw.dll in system(or system32) folder
2. Play a movie compressed by VP3, then ,
if you can play a movie, DirectShowFilter is installed and you must uninstall it.
if you can not play a movie, DirectShowFilter is not installed.

It does not include VP3 VFW codec. But it is capable of playing VP3 with LAV Video Decoder.

The game probably needs that VFW codec.

Thanks for the answer as i thought this codec is very old. i installed it but it didn't work. So i uninstalled it.
It is possible to try something else?

Edit: the installer is surely problematic because it is no compatible with 64 bit windows.

Now if i uninstall k-lite the game starts without any videos.
If i install k-lite:
In windows mode i see the videos but them flashing, and if i go firescreen i see a black screen.
In both above scenarios the lav red icon is near the clock of my pc.

That installer should work on 64-bit Windows, as that can also run (old) 32-bit software.

Do the videos play correctly in MPC-HC or WMP?

To test if the VFW codec works you need to disable LAV Video Decoder with Codec Tweak Tool. If that works then I can modify LAV so it won't get used by this game.

What is the name of the game? And the filename of its main .exe file (so I can blacklist it in LAV)?

I disabled the lav video decoder and i installed the vp3 codec but it is not work.If u know a vp3 codec that work with windows 10 i will be greatfull.
Now if i disable the lav decoder the game start instantly without the videos. If i re enable the lav decoder it shoes a black screen and then the game starts.
The videos with lav outside the game works properly maybe is an engine bug.

Also i found this in a wiki:
The game uses the VP3 video format for its FMV videos which is incompatible with Windows 7 and later, causing a black screen to appear when the FMV videos are supposed to play. A fix is to  delete them entirely.


The game has the name Psychotoxic   and the main exe : Psychotoxic.exe

The problem seems to be caused by the inefficient way the game renders the video.

thank again i deleted all the videos and the game works without them!
