MPC-HC will close now, error

Hi, just came to post and saw the new post by char12345 on this same issue, but the error message was different, if I can I will insert a pix of the error I took with a screen shot.

the only listing in the FAQ was for MPC-HC crashing with .rm files the error shows this to be a .ax.

1. solution: I just click ok, restart the player and start playing at the same song from my song list that it stopped on. and it goes on fine, This error has happened approx. 4 times since I installed this program, but each time I just click ok and restart the program, I listen to music for hours on end so 4 times in a week and one/half is not a lot of times.
2. I cannot reproduce the error as I do not understand the technical details of the error. Smile

3. winxp sp3, fully up to date.

The crash is caused by an audio decoder from Windows. I am not sure why it happens, as it normally should not be used.

You can solve it this way:
MPC-HC options > External Filters > Add "MPEG Layer-3 Decoder" and block it

Which merit value did it show after adding it? The default value for this filter is 00600001.

as you can see above the merit value is 00810000, this is what it was before blocking and after blocking.

That higher merit explains why it was used.

The codec pack normally lowers its merit automatically during installation. So either that failed somehow, or something has reset it.
