MPC often crashes when seeking

For a while now MPC has often been crashing when seeking. This happens both in video and audio files. It especially tends to happen if i have had the video or audio file paused for a while and seek elsewhere in the video. What could be causing this issue and is there anything i could do to fix it?

It is always simply Windows that says that MPC has stopped responding, giving me the option either to close the program or wait until it responds (I choose to close the program). I will still try to take a screenshot next time it happens.

If it mainly happens after a pause, then maybe your harddrive went into sleep mode? That can take several seconds to spin up again.

Otherwise I don't know what is wrong.

It can also happen when just playing a video normally and going forwards or backwards.
