Windows Explorer detail columns Empty Windows Explorer detail columns

I have no idea if this has anything to do with K-Lite, but I have it installed and read somewhere out there on the internet that K-Lite may break Windows Explorer and stop it from showing things like frame height, width, framerate, etc from showing up in Windows when you view files using the details view (and add those columns)

I want to be able to view a bunch of files and sort by frame rate, but Windows just shows these things as blank. Does this happen to everyone? Is it K-Lite or some Windows update that broke this? Let me know if it works for anyone here.

It does not break explorer's ability to show file details. K-Lite actually adds this ability for a few additional formats.

It depends on the type and content of the file whether Explorer is able to show details. In many cases it is severely lacking because Windows by itself doesn't support all video formats. So you need to mention what type of files you are having issues with.

For example for MP4 files with HEVC video you need to install the HEVC Media Foundation codec:

Thanks, this happens with any video file I have. But I think my problem is these files are on my NAS. It seems to work if the files are on the C:\ or even just a USB drive. It's probably not the best place to ask this but would you know how to enable this on a NAS that has been symbolic linked? It seems to show up ok on a networked mapped drive, but for other reasons, I have instead started to make symbolic links to my NAS drives.

I don't know if it is possible. This topic suggest that it used to work in Windows 7:

So it could be a bug in Windows 8/10. But I suspect this might actually be intentional as a security measure.
