ADOBE FLASH Empty ADOBE FLASH

Post by PxDemaR Fri Dec 04, 2020 7:13 pm

Hi!
Will Flash film FLV be playable in MPC-HC from 2021, when Adobe cutting it off?
If yes, can I uninstall Adobe Flash?

Playback of .FLV files does not use the Adobe Flash plugin at all. It never has. So yes, you can uninstall it.

Only .SWF files use Adobe Flash plugin.

I often play .SWF files through MPC-HC from K-Lite Codec Pack. Will it still be possible next year? Is there anything that can be done to maintain compatibility? Will older versions of Flash / MPC-HC/K-Lite from now on provide better support than more recent versions?

Current version of MPC-HC is still fully compatible with the Flash plugin. No reason to use an old version.

Yes, recent versions of the Flash plugin have a timebomb in its code that will make it stop working. I don't know if that also affects playback of local files. You could test that by setting the date on your computer beyond January 12 2021, and see if it still works or not. You could use the same trick to make it work again in 2021 by setting date back to 2020.

Version 32.0.0.363 of the plugin is supposedly the last one that did not yet have the timebomb.

There are several emulators available that can be used to open SWF files. For example Ruffle:
