Unable to stream HLS from https server (note the s!)

Using either MCP or POTPlayer, both setup with LAV, then streaming encrypted HLS (stream.m3u8) works just fine from a http server, while both players reports "failed to render file" when streaming HLS from a https server. http vs https. Is there a fix for this ?
