MPC-HC got to big controls Empty MPC-HC got to big controls

Post by Morku Sat Nov 19, 2016 7:24 pm

Hi,

I installed k-lite Mega Codec Pack on a fresh, clean Windows 10 x64 1607 and my controls of mpc-hc got way to big than on my previous Windows.
Here is a shot:

I little wonder, because there are no scalling options used in Windows (normal 100%).

The point is: when I maximise (not fullscreen), I get less of the videowindow.
How I get back the old appearance? I can't find an option in mpc-hc. Thank you Smile

If you delete toolbar.bmp then it will be a bit smaller.

You can press 1 or 2 to hide the toolbar. Press 3 to reset to standard layout.

Thank you for the hint. Looks like the Toolbar.bmp was changed. I had a look on my Laptop and the filesize is smaller.

The "old"(?) Toolbar:

and the "new" after I did a clean install (well, both files are from 2010 Wink ):

Whatever is the reason... I am going to keep the old on a save place now.
Controls are small again Smile

I also noticed this on my 23", FullHD screen. From some time those control buttons are way to big. On my 15" laptop they are fine.

The installer contains the toolbar in 4 sizes (24/32/48/64). It chooses one based on screen resolution and scaling settings.

Which screen resolution do you guys have?

I have HP ZR24w. It's 1920x1200 in 24'', working with 59Hz. No bigger scalling sizes were set. I have this monitor for a long time and always got the smaller toolbar when I installed k-lite.

I use the same resolution. Size 32 has been the default for that resolution for quite a while now. In the past several people requested larger buttons. Maybe if more people prefer the smaller size, then an option could be added.

You can get the smaller toolbar here:

I have an 23" LG monitor with 1920x1080 resolution. It's not a touch screen and I don't like my desktop elements big so I would prefer and option to get the smaller ones.

Personally I would appreciate and option to have the smaller toolbar icons.

MPC-HC got to big controls Empty Solution

Post by Kepee Sat Dec 02, 2017 4:30 am

Sorry to bump an older thread, but I had the same issue and happened to find a proper solution. To reduce the size of the buttons/controls in MPC-HC, go to
View -> Options -> Advanced and then find "DefaultToolbarSize" in the Advanced settings. Change the value to 16 (mine was 24 as default) and hit Apply to get the small buttons back.
