Yeah as the title say
I want to make Windows media player 12 of windows 10 pro to use specific third party codec to run WMV file. Due A game of mind required WMP to run it's clip and I have to make the game run on my Radeon HD 8670M, which it not support decoding video, but by specific codec like LAV, K-lite would make it done. But my Windows Media Player simply refuse to use any of codec to run WMV file. So I want to ask every expert here is there a way to make it possible?
Please, there many people like me stuck with the game so called: Nioh, it use WMP and for this we are not able to run the wmv clip, so not able to advance to the game because of intro clip

Windows 10 Pro should have Microsoft's video decoder for WMV(If it's not the N edition). Is there any reason to not to use Media Foundation's WMV codec? LAV has known issues with WMV. It's why it's not enabled by default in K-Lite, only if there's no Media Foundation codec for WMV found. Media Foundation works really well with Microsoft's own formats(such as WMV).

Unless you have a specific issue with Microsoft's decoder, i do not recommend using LAV's WMV decoder. If you installed K-Lite in default settings, then WMP will use Media Foundation's codecs by default.

If you do however want to do this here are the steps:

1) Open Codec Tweak Tool
2) Select Preferred Decoders(MPC-HC ignores these settings as it uses a Merit system).
3) Under both 32-bit and 64-bit decoders, select under WMVA: LAV Video, and press Apply.

If you also want to also use LAV's Splitter then

1) Select Preferred Splitter
2) under both 32 and 64-bit select under .WMV: LAv Video, and press Apply.

Have you tried disabling hardware acceleration for WMV files?

To get to this menu right click the bar and press "Show Menu Bar" and then under Tools->Options...

The game does NOT use WMP. It uses Media Foundation codecs. It isn't capable of using LAV Filters.

If your version of Windows does not include WMP then it also does not contain those Media Foundation codecs. You can install them using the Media Feature Pack of Microsoft:

I did some searching and this game might actually do use DirectShow codecs.
Are you able to play the intro video if you open it with MPC-HC or GraphStudioNext tool?

Some people are having problems with the game because they have anti-aliasing (FXAA) enabled in their graphics driver settings. Check if that is enabled, and turn it off or set it to application controlled.

Yes I believe so, I able to run MPC-HC to open the intro video on AMD GPU, and yes, I aware of FXAA and turn it off also, I following both thread about Black Screen Issues on Nioh Diccussion then I finally decided to come here to find the answer, hopefully you are understand this and I hope found my answer here
Update: I setup both MPC and Graph StudioNext to run on my AMD and that running good for opening those intro clip
Thanks to your GraphStudioNext tooL and ProcessMonitor, I find out the game actually try to access Qasf.dll to decode the WMV file but it self

QASF is Microsoft's own DirectShow .ASF source filter. that makes it possible to read an .ASF file and split its streams so the streams are decode-able; it's not a decoder.

I just so happen to have Nioh: Complete Edition myself so i will try and reproduce your problem. This may end up being a bug in the game in combination with old AMD GPU's(or a driver issue) and not a bug with the decoders itself. I'm using an Nvidia GPU so i might not get the same results. A log(Codec Tweak Tool->Generate Log) will be useful to see if you do not have any broken/non-standard codecs installed.

Edit: Can you post a screenshot(Since this isn't shown by the log) of your "Preferred DirectShow decoding filters"?  The intro video is showing for me just fine in-game and isn't using any third-party codec on Windows 10 x64 Pro 1709.
