Windows 10 Pro 64bit lockup Empty Windows 10 Pro 64bit lockup

I been having a random problem with PC lockup that forces me to reboot system when it freezes up.

I am posting here first as I thing it being caused by MPC or in could be coming form my chrome or firefox browser.

This happened with at least one previous version of the mega install and currently using K-Lite_Codec_Pack_1355_Mega.

All my software are running the latest builds as I am a system builder and good at updating and troubleshooting my PCs.

I posting this now for help and any feedback thats available. Thanks.

It is most likely a problem with your graphics driver. Both MPC and the browsers use the GPU for hardware acceleration of video and page rendering. So my first suggestion would be to install a different version of the driver (newer or older). Disabling hardware acceleration may help as a workaround.

Also check if there is no overheating problem. A broken fan or dust inside the case.

Another (less likely) possibility are bad sectors on your harddrive. If this is the case then usually the harddrive led stays on during the freeze or you hear clicking noises.

Hardware has been completely tested only problem I have had with my PC was had bad cpu cooler which was replaced.
I using speccy and the gigabyte utilities and no problems there either. I just did another test on my hard drives they are no errors and with speccy no problems with my hard drives have been detected

I have gtx 1080p and always running the stable nvidia drivers.

I dont think it would be hw accel but how would I diable that its not in the MPC options but I will try it to see what happens?

It could be because of AV software. Avast! has a component called "Game Mode" that monitors for full screen application. It's been known to hang my system including taskbar for nearly a minute. If you have a similar or same AV I recommend going into the settings and disabling it.

You can disable hardware acceleration in the settings of LAV Video Decoder.

The "stable" NVIDIA drivers aren't always actually stable. So it doesn't hurt to try an older version.

I used avast before but not using it right now just the builtin Windows 10 programs and malwarebyte anti malware but I been using those programs for awhile so not sure if an update is causing my problem

Well that how PCs are in general any programs have problems running together but almost always when I post on the forums people will have same problem and figured out how to fix it.

I have not been using the same combo of programs to see if it helps an so far no more lockups.

I really hate having to do a hard reboot when the system does crash as that when the PC reverts to older settings and that has caused problems in the past.

Why don't you stress test the GPU with FurMark for 15-20 mins to see if your system locks up. If it does lock up it could be either the PSU or GPU.

I just rerun burnin test with AIDA64 and no problems encountered.
